I have a 2013 CX5 and just put in an Erisen brand aftermarket entertainment unit( Chinese Branded) but lost my Steering wheel controls. My Auto Electrician said to install the Axxess ASWC1 to get them back. Have been reading on the net that the aftermarket generic systems will NOT be detected by this adapter.

Will it work on my car, and if not what will. My radio DOES NOT have a 3.5mm jack imput.

Do not want to put this ASWC1 into my car to find out it does not work.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm assuming the radio has to have some sort of Steering wheel input wire if it doesn't have the jack input. The ASWC1 has an adatper for the plug (included) so it can be hardwired to different radios. With it being a generic brand, you might have to manually program the radio type and do a little trial and error to figure out which radio type will work for your radio.

If the unit does not have a wired input option, did it come with a remote control? If so then you also have the option of using the old PAC SWI-X. It's a universal steering wheel interface that uses a little remote eye to control the radio. That's what was used back in the day before radios had the hard wired SWC input on the back.

My unit has three wires all marked steering wheel controls but does not have the input jack so would have to be hardwired but does have a remote controller and infrared capabilities.

I have the ASWC1 BUT my problem is, do you think it will work with my generic unit, should I try and wire the ASWC1 into my system when all that I have read says the ASWC1 only works with upmarket brands, I know almost everything is now made in China so should I take the chance of trying.
Will the ASWC1 allow me to manually set up my generic brand and get back my steering wheel controls.

Is there anybody out there that has successfully programmed the ASWC1 to work on a generic brand system, as I said before my manufacturer is erisen.com they sell lots of double dins.

If the radio has 3 wires for steering wheel input, then more than likely it has a basic steering wheel interface built into the unit. (seen some brands like Eclipse, Rosen, and some generic chinese units setup like that) Since the SWC in the Mazda aren't CAN controlled you should be able to wire up those wires directly to the car and not need an interface at all. In my experience two of the three wires are resistance sense while the third provides a ground output.

Check the owners/install guide for a wiring guide. There should also be a sub-menu in the radio settings that let you setup and customize the SWC. You can then follow the same instructions for wiring up the ASWC1, but use the wires comming from your unit. Connect one or both resistance wires (depending if you have factory bluetooth) and ground the third wire.
