sway bars

Hi all, i was wondering, if the problem with the "clunk" is from the rear sway bar, couldn't we just remove the bar and the problem would be fixed. or is it an integral part of our suspension. Im not the most car savy, but to be honest, i would like to soften up my cars suspension anyways, so is this an option??? thanks all.

To expand on what speedin said, you don't want to take them off because the sway bars help control the roll of the car.

Think about it this way, when you're driving and you make a sharp turn the outside edge of the car (if making a left turn the right side and vice versa) gets closer to the ground and the inside of the car gets higher. If you're going too fast, its possible you could actually roll the car. The sway bar helps to counterbalance that and keep the car flat by moving the force from one side of the body to the other and keeping the car stable. Without the sway bar you're putting way too much weight on the outside tires which reduces traction and screws up the steering while in the turn.

Hopefully this explains it better.
