Suspicious Box with LED under dash

Bought a new 2010 GT with Nav a couple of weeks ago. I've been lurking on the forum since then...great source of information that I'm sure I'll use a lot in the future.

This evening, I noticed something odd under the dash, just below the hood release and above the e-brake. A small black box with a single LED light on it. The light is not on and the box feels as if it could fall off at any time. There doesn't seem to be anything about this in the manual.

Anyone have any ideas? Am I about to be the victim of some kind of mob hit?

lol - its probably one of those boxes that police can scan if you get in a wreck and check your speed - if you have seatbelt on - and such

Maybe something the dealer installs to prevent theft off the lot?

I was hoping it was something normal. Considering my car had a car wash towel in the cargo area, a candy wrapper in the side storage, you're probably right, they left something in there. I guess I'll have to take a quick trip to the dealer to get it taken care of. (sad1)

Usually an alarm shock sensor. Perhaps your car has an aftermarket dealer installed alarm?
