So I get home last night around 8:30PM.
It's dark out, and no lights are on.
When I get to the door, I realize the outside of the two is wedged open.... hmm, strange I think.
I see that there is a box on the deck between the two doors.
OK, I pick up the box, think it's awfully light for the size of box it is, and go inside.
Make some dinner, clean up after my messy-ass self.
Then remember I've got this big box with my name on it.
I go check it out.
Still think it's pretty light.
There are no clues on the outside where it came from, just a return address to some promotions company in Mississauga.
I can't figure out what the heck I might be getting from some promotions company.
I split the seal.
Open the cardboard top, and of course it's funny of those STUPID styrofoam peanut things. (I HATES 'EM)
I rummage around in them for a few seconds, then my hand hits something!
And something else!
I pull them out, and of course make a mess of the stupid styrofoam peanut things.
It's two cub sized cylinders inside paper packages.
One has a handwritten M on the corner, the other an L.
hmmm, I think.
I rummage again in the box, and there is an envelope.
I pull it out, and make more mess of styrofoam.
I go back to the boxes.
Remove the paper sleeve from the one with the L.
Open the top of the cylinder, and
TADA
It's a Men's MAZDASPEED watch!
Groovy I think! (Would be better if the face was Spicy Orange Mica...)
I open the other one, and it's a LADIES MAZDASPEED watch.
I decide to open the envelope.
It's a dear me letter from the director of marketing for Mazda Canada, thanking me for buying my MSP, appologizing for any delay I may have experienced waiting for it, blah blah blah.
The watches seem to be of so-so quality, and of course I need to have the men's fitted, as right now I think I could fit it around my neck.
I will post pictures when I can!
Thanks Mazda Canada!

cool. At least it's SOMETHING.

Mazda must be trying to get on people's good side by sending out $20.00 watches :)

I don't think I will ever wear the watch, but I plan on keeping them and adding it to my Mazdaspeed collection of stuff.
I've got ABSOLUTELY everything I could find on this car.
I have every single piece of paper used in making the deal for this thing, every article I've read (check www.canadiandriver.com today for a rehash of their old MSP article) and every piece of whatever that came with this car.

Are these guys on crack?

Note this:

Now with 170 horsepower at 6000 rpm, the 2003 Mazdaspeed Proteg will hit 100 km/h from 0 in about 7.5 seconds, about two seconds quicker than the prevous MP3

Umm, so the mp3 did 0-60 in 9-9.5 seconds? And the speed does it in 7.5???? MAybe the rest of the article is informative...

Fuel consumption is pretty good for a performance car: 10.0 l/100 km (28 mpg) in the city and 7.3 l/100 km (39 mpg)

I wish. We've seen the stickers on the windows of speeds saying lower. What's up wit dis?

And about the Potenza'a

. I didn't have an opportunity to try them in the snow.

HEE HEE. Anyone that knows anything about cars knows snow+Z rated tires = bad idea no matter who makes them.

Man there's so many errors in this I don't have the time to post them all.

idiots. Nothing pisses me off then these guys "testing cars" and publishing false information.

Mazda also makes these really cool rotary watches. The center section of the watch is a rotar and it turns as the second hand. A few of the people back in the service section have them. I would love to have one of thoes.

logan...you're very lucky.
i didn't get any freebies after my sales. I t was during my delivery day, i had to ask my salesman if he could throw in something for me...which he did, by giving me the watch and a baseball cap.

Me too!
I know a few guys up here with RX-7's would kill for those.
My mazdaspeed watches are just cheap "thanks for spending $30,000, here's a $20 watch" thank you gifts.
( CDN money )
Newf, it was an "interesting" read...

I should see if I can order them from the parts department. Something like that would go great on e-bay also.

I will have to ask about the free hats and watches. I knew nothing about thoes.

I just got the same thing in the mail. Letter and 2 watches.
Better than a kick in the nuts!

Greg,
Was waiting for you to do that.

Thank you Doug! Of course; most here know my favorite is this: (chair) ...'just cracks me up!

I've had mine for 2 months and only got that stupid flashlight and blue LED keychain.

I'm leasing. I picked the car up on Jan 18, 2003. I figure if Logan has had his car 2 weeks, me two months, it's just that they got around to doing it now.

My $0.02
