Superprotege still racing awaiting the completion of his big brother, supermazda3

The MSP axles are identical except for the 24mm shafts instead of 22mm. For the price, the DSS ones are a much better idea.

from what ive heard, DSS dont make or sale them shafts anymore, i was lucky i bought mines from Damian boostdprotegelx for an amazing low price, DSS Axles is the way to go as you said maxx.

these is how they are and look.

woops...I thought the MSPs were thicker in the area where it broke so Manuel. Is that the shaft area? And yes the DSS are definitely more bang for your buck.

You can still get them. Picking up the phone works wonders...

The reason I don't want to is that they have a REALLY wierd vibration at high speeds. (Above about 100 KM/h) Either they're not balanced, or they were just a hair off center when they were welded, so it wobbles.

to be honest i've gone over 145 mph and lower speeds with no vibrations at all, actually these is the first time i hear these about these axles.. atleast the ones i have installed don't give me those problems, they work just like the OEM but they hold more power..

Yes, a whole swack of them. Also, for firsthand experience I've driven my best friend's supercharged Cobalt right after he did the DSS Axles and it wobbled like s***, so we took them off and you could see how they were not "true" and round. He sold them to someone on his forum...

well probably for the Cobalt they were s***, but for the Proteges they are good, atleast from a few people i know that have them, i haven't hear them complaining including my self..

Update

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update, a NHRA certified Roll Cage is currently being installed and the engine block has been sent out to be sleeved for Supermazda3. We have asked the builders to take pics so hopefully they do so we can post them.

Superprotege went to the tracks on 2/16/07 but was only able to manage one 11.96s run. Due to technical difficulties and Corvette/Mustang/Mopar Challenge, we were not able to get many runs to fix the issues. I am hoping to get the video uploaded sometime this week. Again the video is not good. I know we need to get a good camera.

Sounds good.. lets see that Vid...

So the update is here... I need a better camera as well. But you can clearly make out the 11.-- on the board. I didn't get a shot of the time slips but Manuel was able to pull off a 1.700 '60ft just had top end issues. Unfortunately as Owen mentioned we had a big problem getting runs in as the Mopar/Corvette/GM/Juniors Draggers/Mustangs had a special event that night. In a 7 hour night we were only able to get around 6 runs in. But at least we got this one good run in to keep the hopes up. Breaking the record by I think .02 of a second.

Enjoy the VIDS/PICS!!!

One shot before we left to Moroso, my car being dropped off for work.

nice video, and good race beating up that SRT-10 Truck, have you guys done anything else to Superprotege to make it faster or better in any way ? in what direction are you guys heading with these project car ? get fast track times, or are you guys looking for something else.. i mean 11.9 is an awesome 1/4 mile time.. what happened to your car Alfredo, are you putting any new toys on it ?

Wow, probably you guys need a Garrett GT45 Blowzilla then, so these car is not going to be street legal, i mean like a fast sreet car, daily driven ? that would be very nice to have a fast as hell car but also to be able to drive it in the street, if not mistaken street legal is up to 999 Horsepower...

there is no horsepower "limit" for a street legal car..at least not here..

I don't think anyone with a Protg needs to worry about having "too much" horsepower...

who knows, there is a 680whp Mazda around here without NOS, who knows if they go even more crazy and put a 200-250 shot NOS kit and get near the 1000 HP mark, i mean at these point with money everything is possible.

Update

Hey eveyone,

Just a quick update. Supermazda3 should be back this week with a completed NHRA legal roll cage. The sleeving of the block is going to take approximately another 2 weeks. A few parts came in already though, please see the list and pics below:

  • Koni Lowering Springs
  • Front Slicks
  • Rear Skinnies
  • Light weight racing rims (rear)

Stay tuned, more updates to come
