i'm not trying to be annoying, and i used the search function, but i just want to get a quick yes or no answer to this question. i couldn't find an absolute, definitive answer. so i thought i'd jsut pop in and ask:

if a wheel is

17x7
PCD: 5x114.3
ET: 42

Will it fit?

To be perfectly honest, i'm not certain what those acronyms stand for... I'm assuming the 42 is the offset, but the fitment guides (Fitment Recipe on this forum) said, i think, 45 and higher.

Would a 42 rub/not fit, or should it be OK?

Thanks for any help... I just really want to be exactly sure before I do something stupid.

It might rub depending on the tire size, my guess is that it prolly will, but you can get your fenders rolled to fix it. I would look for something 45+ though.

Would a 215/40/17 work on stock suspension? I've not lowered it yet...

What exactly is involved in rolling the fenders? Would spacers help at all?

That helps quite a bit. I rarely have more than one passenger at a time, and my days of driving like a maniac on country roads seem to be over, for the time-being.

So I think I'll get these wheels and hope for the best, and roll the fenders with a baseball bat if I have to. I'll want to lower the car anyway, so rolling is probably in my future no matter what.

Should the bat be wood or aluminum?

*cringes as he types* Wood.

Consider rollyourfender.com, with which I had a good experience.

Also consider 205/45s for you 17x7+42s. It's still in the gray area, but you may not have to roll at all. With 215s, you definitely will have to roll.

Haha... I was fairly certain wood was the answer, but they say the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

The place that I'm ordering the wheels from only has 215s for bundle packages, and that way I can get them mounted and balanced for free... so it might still be worth it to roll them.

But, yeah... I'll check out that site.

Thanks, guys.

As it turns out, I can indeed get 205s from the same place... they just won't guarentee fit. But I'm going to call tomorrow and make sure they'll still mount and balance for free. A 205 will look much better anyway, as it won't bulge over the side of the wheel the way a 215 would.

I'm still probably going to be rolling the fenders, though... cause I don't want to run the risk of rubbing later on after I drop it down a bit. I think a friend of mine and I are going to have a mini rolling party.

Should I get 205/45 or 205/40??

Does that affect much other than the look of the tire?

Wouldn't the 40 be a better bet because it's a lower profile tire, or am I the opposite of correct on that assumption?

I must say, I really hope that a 40 will work out, because the tire selection for 205/45 is piss.

*Crosses fingers*

Aaaaallright.... Quadruple post.

I just went back to the Fitment Recipe thread and triple-checked... looks like a 205/40 with a +42 should work, but barely. So... I've found my wheels, I've found my tires, and I will probably roll the fenders anyway...

So, don't mind me. Sorry to keep bringing this topic to the top of the list... But I'm fairly certain I've got everything worked out now.

Thanks/Sorry. :)
