Sunroof rattle in my P5...anyone get this?

I just started noticing it, but it seems my sunroof is starting to make some noises...faint rattling and squeaky sound. Anyone experience this? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with body flex or something during hard cornering as I'm lowered my P5 with Skunk2 and the ride is pretty stiff around corners. Anyways, I guess I'll have the dealership take a look at it sometime next week.

I get the rattling from time to time, but it doesn't last very long. No leaking either. I havn't lowered my P5. The loud stereo I have drowns out the rattling usually.

THAT IS FROM CUTTING A HOLE INTO THE TOP OF THE CAR....IT IS ALL FROM BODY FLEX OF THE CAR...FUNNY WE EVEN HAVE THAT HAPPENING IN THE NEW MERCEDES E500...65K CAR WITH THE SUNROOF QUALITY OF A MAZDA!!!!!!!.....(rofl)

i agree

it's just from body flex. close your roof and push up on the glass. you'll see the entire rrof flex like a wet noodle. i took mine in and they tightened some stuff and it went away. however the first time i opened and closed it it was right back. mind you i only get it with the roof closed and i can only hear with the sunshade open so i don't notice it that much.

IF it walks, talks, or rolls on rubber it is going to give you some trouble, if your going to buy a car with a sunroof you should have expected some normal sounds associated with chassis flex, also have more bad news, you say your sunroof does not leak, you will find four drain hoses , one each corner, yes they do leak, however it should not leak into the passenger compartment unless the drains are plugged up.(silverp5)

Thanks everyone...

I actually haven't had a car with a sunroof yet. I've only owned convertibles or targa tops prior to this car. I figured it was from the chassis flex but I wanted to make sure. Thanks again.

your sunroof

Hey,

On mine, the molding that is finishing off the hole in the headliner and for holding the headliner tight is the culprit on mine. Every now and then bump or not, I hear this little 'popping' type of noise from the left or right, front or back-it just picks an area every different time around the sunroof. Ive tried pressing on it, pulling on it, holding it and whatever else,,,it always returns after a few minutes. I just have come to accept that it is a hole in my roof and not every car with one is gonna be absolute 100% right. It kinda sucks..yea,,, but on a cool night or good day ,,,opening it up and letting the breeze in .....awesome.....So I'll deal with it, and maybe, finally let the dealer have a stab. But considering all the good stuff this ride does,,,,its not bad in the big picture.

holy smokes! that's how it is in my car, still stock and all. weird how it doesn't happen in my CRX though, and it's lowered.

I get the creak when I back out of my driveway while turning into the street.. Just a little flex is all it is.. Anyone who drove a car with T-tops knows the sound well..
