Suggestions for Search Improvement

I know we're trying to walk a fine line between accessibility without overloading the server, but is there any way we could test drive reducing the time between searches? 30 seconds is a long time to wait if your first search returns no results. Maybe try 15 or 20?

Additionally, I know this has been mentioned before, but could we please get search support for 3 letter words? "Lip" "oil" "OBX "UDP" "MP3" and "ECU" are just a few of the many words that are commonly searched for on these forums, but our engine does not return results for these words because they only have 3 letters.

Finally, boolean operators would be a dream come true. Just some suggestions!

When I have to search for three-letter words on here, I go to (google) and type in "EGR Mazdas247.com" or whatever three-letter word it is, and it usually works pretty well that way.

Yeah, I've done that, but it would be so much nicer to be able to do that here. With google, sometimes it's harder to sort the results by date and sometimes you get the stripped down version of the thread...it would just be easier here!

I'll look into your suggestions and see if we can make any adjustments without jeopardizing the server/database.
