Subwoofer/Rear Speakers!

Ok, so I recently bought my MSP. My previous system was a bose in my other car, and it had a lot of bass. This wasn't very strong so I just figured it wasn't meant for much bass. I listened for awhile and it seemed to have pretty decent bass for the Kenwood. I decided to look in the trunk and check it out today. I see the whole set up in the back and when the radio is playing on full bass, I put my hand under the woofer and didnt feel anything. Nor do I hear anything coming from the two speakers mounted in the rear of the vehicle above the backseats. So I thought the system was sounding pretty good but these aren't even working? It must be a pretty good system. I am going to have it looked but I thought I would see if anyone else is having or had an issue like this. I feel the speakers in the doors and that's where all the semi-bass seems to be coming from.

There are no speakers on the rear deck. THe rear speakers are in the doors.

Check the stickies for troubleshooting the stock subwoofer.

What? There are two screens over the rear deck that say kenwood on them. Isn't it a 6 speaker system? 1 in each of the 4 doors and then 2 on the rear deck?

The subwoofer box in the trunk takes up that space and since two things can't occupy the same place at the same time...you do not have rear speakers. It is a 5-speaker system. 4 door speakers and a powered subwoofer.

Really basic question: Is the fade on your head unit set to full forward? That would turn off your rear door speakers and maybe your sub. Alternately, your sub may be blown, that happens a lot with the stock subs on the MSPs. Many people go with the JL Audio 8" as a replacement.

Actually, it's a 7 speaker system. 2 tweeters by the mirrors, 2 mids in the front doors, 2 speakers in the rear doors, and the subwoofer. They used the pkg. shelf from the regular protege to save 25 cents. They just put some Kenwood badges on the grilles.

Check to see if the red light is on at the amp. If not, check the fuse under the hood. It's easy to find. Just follow the red wire that runs to the fuse box. It is separate from the harness.

Good luck.

If the sub isn't working it could also be the remote turn on wire. it is blue and bundled in with the RCA cables. The jag that owned my car before me cut it and never reconnected the wire. I wire nutted them together and like magic, the bass was reborn.

My sub started trippin a few days ago also, but the only thing I 'm trippin on is when I go over a bump or hit a dip my sub turns on and starts to bumb then it shuts off. I've checked the wires to my amp and the power wire was loose,so I tighten it and it still don't work.Any suggestions anyone?

check all fuses.. but on the bose system.. if it has no highs.. and no lows... it has to be bose

No it's still a 7 speaker setup.. they consider the 2 tweeters to be speakers
