Subwoofer not working

Adapt and over come. pick tool , knife i don't know I am not looking at one!
:D

This is pissing me off. My MSP has been in the shop for 3 days now while they are trying to fix the sub. They had to order a whole new assembly.

I dont know if its the same on the MP3 as the MSP but make sure you check the fuse which isnt in your fuse panel but right beside the battery under the hood.

Mine went too a while back and i just had blown the fuse for the line directly connected to the battery, youll see it pretty easily if you look for it....me and my buddy smacked our head after an hour of playing around with everything else

The MSp and MP3 have very different sub setups.
The problem is not from the amp having to much power, far from it. The problem is from people not being able to tell that they are pushing the sub too hard and not making bass but distortion and that is what is killing the subs. A single kenwood 8" sub is not much bass at all when properly played but you can get more volume by increasing the volume and it will become louder but anyone with a decent ear will know it is just distortion and not sub bass.
Never use the bass adjustment at all and keep the EQ flat. The amps gains may have been set to high stock aswell.

The amp and sub are actual a good match. no issue there, it is the user.

My sub came back on today by itself after not working for a week.It still goes off and on.....maybe it has a loose connection inside the sub box.if it was fried it would stop altogether correct?

Correct. It has to be something loose or the amp is bad.

ALso there is some simple things it cold be. Either an RCA maybe be messed and is sometimes shorting out or the remote turn on wire may be loose.

the led on the amp never goes out,but the sub will stop working randomly.i put a volt meter to the amp yesterday and it was putting out power while the sub wasn't playing.seems like a loose connection at the sub.am i on the right track?

It takes 3 days to fix a sub? WTF!

It gets better. I finally got my car back but the freakin sub is on backorder. So i'll probably will get it in a month.

The most likely problem is a loose speaker wire at the sub either from the amp to the enclosure or from the enclosure to the sub. Disconnect the speaker wires at the amp when then sub isn't working and read the impedance across tham, should be about 4 ohms.

The other possibility is the RCAs going from the radio to the amp are shorting out or not plugged in all the way either at the amp or the radio.

If the MSP enclosure has enough depth I would just go get a JL 8W0 ($75) or 8W3 ($130). But thats just me. :D

The MSP has a sealed enclosure right?
How easy is the sub to push in on and does it fire right back out or does it take a few seconds to come back?

sub cutting out

i had same problem twice. found out it was just the fuse under the hood on the poer wire. very easy fix. blew fuse cause i hooked up 2 tens. 2nd time blew but dont know why? dont know if this info helps anyone.

I got so tired of rolling with no bass i hooked up 2 10 kenwoods to the amp. Screw the 8 inch.

when your subs go out, did all the speakers seem to lose power. i have a friend that has his own shop, so im gonna stop by tomorrow. i'll post up what he said maybe it can help.

I think it might be ported, I can't push the sub because of the stupid wire mesh that is in front of it. Later I'll try taking it off and taking a closer look.

I think I might go with the JLs.

Its the same just no bass. Not that that sub produced that much quality bass to begin with.
