Subwoofer and Amp

OK so now I know about the speakers and all. I have taken everyone's advice and went to see if the subwoofer was on in the back by opening the trunk. I cannot here anything or feel anything from the subwoofer box. Also, I am worried about the amp. I do not think it is on as I do not see any lights lit on the amp and it is not warm after use. Any help on how to get this working would help. Can this be turned on via the radio. I have reset the radio twice already and I am getting frustrated. I even took it to an audio shop yesterday and they didn't help.

Thanks,

John

John:
If you have already 'reset', and made sure it actually did reset, I would check the fuses. You might have a blown fuse connected with that Sub / Amp. Give that a look.

Cheers!

Did you hold down the AM button? that turns your sub on and off as i explained to some others in a different thread. Your amp only drives your sub so mabey when you turn the sub on the amp will come on to.

PS what crap ass shop did you take it to that they could not find out how to help you?

Ok so I have reset the stereo and played with the buttons. Is the amp supposed to be lit at all on the left side and when I look at the sub itself I do not see any movement.

Dude, you MSP owners are killing me!!!!!

Put audio issues in the audio forum, nothing in the MSP is specific to the MSP, its all aftermarket stuff. I am downloading the manuals for the audio in the car.

What is the head units model number?

not to mention....if this is a REAL issue...and not just not understanding how to operate the unit....ITS A NEW CAR FOR GODS SAKE....ITS A WARRANTY ISSUE!!! take it to the dealer and make them fix it.

To answer your question about lights on the amp. Yes, there should be a Red light near the center of the AMP. I believe it is in the shape of a triangle. It is on the outer face in the word KENWOOD. I think the W has a triangle lit. I can't recall exactly. But I know there is a red light.

Good luck. Check those fuses.

Jason

yes that is exactly where the light is. Also both the amp and the power wire should hava a fuse. the Amp fuse is on the amp, the power wire is about 12" down the power wire by the battery.

Is the amps power light as described befoe on?

Nope. No light is on. I am really mad. When you spend this amount of money you expect things to be working properly. God knows what the dealer is going to say and who the hell knows how long it will take to fix it.

If you have a good dealer it shouldn't be an issue.

If the amp isn't on there are only a few things it good be.

1. Did you check the fuse unsre the hood for the power wire going to the amp. It will be along a wire about 12" down that wire from the batteries positive terminal.

2. Did the remote turn on wire get unplugged from the amp. If yes you will see the wire dangling from the amp. It will be a small guage wire that is plugged into the amp, on the side you will have a fuse, then the power connection, the ground then the remote turn on, if any of those wires have disconnected then the amp will not work.

3. Power or ground lose, you'll need a multimeter to find out this one.

problem with this stereo is that according to everything i have heard and according to my dealer its all driect with kenwood. so if somethin is busted they might make you mail it to kenwood and wait for the tunr around, all on your dime..........you should MAKE them take a working amp or whatever out of the next MSP they get if this is the case

Did you try holding down the AM button until it beeps? This turns the sub on/off. Also, did you check the NF settings in the audio control settings?
