subs

Who has done subs on their 03 p5? Where did you mount the ground...? I can't get the subs to start banging but a multi meter says there is power going to it...
Thanks

Need a little more info than that. What kind of amp, subs, radio? Any pics of the install? Where do you currently have it grounded?

any non-painted metal surface that goes to the body or frame. I used one of the bolts for the rear folding seat under the carpet.

get your amp tested. sounds like your outputs are bad. if it powers up then you have a good enough ground.

False bad ground will cause it to do exactly this. It may turn on and it may work, but once you start pushing it it will cut out or turn it's self off

But so will a bad amp. Was everything new? Do you have another amp to swap it out with?

should've specified about that. figured since OP stated he used the ground on the back of the seat that it would be plenty good. that's where I ran my ground and it never cuts out.

The subs never do that initial bump you get when you turn them on all fuses are good the only reason I know power is going to them is cause the multimeter says so

do you have your remote lead plugged in correctly? the blue wire on the back of the radio is usually where you need to tie that in. other than that the amp powers up,correct? if you do not get amp lights you may have a bad ground as mentioned above, i made a ground with a bolt in my car because the seat bolt was covered too well.

Switch the rcas on the back of the radio

that will not make a difference in sound from a mono amp, the only time that matters is a door speaker 2 or 4 way amp and you need the noise to come from correct side

ok so remote wire may be bad if the amp is not powering up, the remote wire tells the amp to turn on, make sure the wire is not shorted. other than that it sounds like bad ground so try a different spot to ground it at

check if your remote wire is operating correctly. if not, then just find the switched 12+ volt wire and tap the remote wire from the amp to that.

good idea, try this before rewiring ground, see if you can get it to power up first then rewire if needed
