SU TMIC Installed.

Hey Guys,
Having the same issues with the rear hose. I'm investigating replacements. SU really needs to come out with a replacement hot hose for their TMIC. It's plainly obvious it needs its own custom hose, and that we shouldn't be strong arming the stock nor stock boost tubes on it.

I kinda of feel like I was ripped off having purchased the SU boost tubes for better fitment, when they don't fit any better then the stock hoses :(.

I think that yes the tube needs to be longer (about a 1/4 to half of an inch longer), but more importantly, the end which goes onto the intercooler needs to be about 0.1 to 0.25 larger in diameter. It should slide on, like the stock intercooler-->stock intercooler hose.

Here's some photo photos for discussion.

LBV,
Many thanks. Waiting to hear if their measurements are OD or ID for their hoses. If its OD, I'm going to order a 2.75 to 2.5 45 degree reducer and see how it works out!

I can actually answer that question as I ordered a 4" 45 degree elbow from them recently ... it's ID but it can be on the tighter side of things.

What I mean is my 4" is about 1/8th less than 4" really so it's not exact ... may require some silicone spray or heat to slide it over something that is exactly 4".

I sure agree. SU should talk to their supplier and get a new hot tube made. I know I would be willing to get one that fit better.

If you find something that fits better, please let us know. I'm sure we all would appreciate it.

I got the tubes because they were suppose to be "better" than the stockers. The front one is a non issue, but they do need to make a better one for the back, I imagine it works perfect with a stock IC, but they need to design one for their aftermarket IC.

IMO after spending $70 on just two silicone tubes, I'd expect for them to both fit well.

I agree circle...thats the same way I felt. I even called SU, and they told me to basically use elbow grease and wd40 to get it to fit. IMO that should be a sign perhaps it needs another hose! If the siliconintakes hose works, I think I'm going to ask for a refund on my SU boost tubes..or at least see if another member wants to buy them for a discount.

LBV,
Many thanks, I actually got a reply from silicon intakes just as fast as you posted! I ordered a 2.25 to 2.0 45 degree bend reducer, and 4 tbolt clamps. (2 for the front hose and 2 for the rear hoses). I'll tell everyone how it works out when it arrives and take some photos.

I'm sure I'll have to trim it slightly, but as long as it ends up fitting, I'm happy!

I sure hope this works out. I'd like to get a tube that fits without fighting it so much.
Since you live so close to CPE, maybe stop in a see if they can suggest a fix, after all I understand they made the TMIC for SU.

I guess this is the one you ordered?

Did they say how long it is? It does not say on the site.

This definately seems like the way to go. After all the stock cold tube fits fine right?

I will probably buy only the top hot tube and just replace the clamps on the cold tube.

Trader,

Yes that is the tube I bought...with a 2.0 T-bolt, and a 2.25 t-bolt clamp. I also bought 2x 2.5 t-bolt clamps for the front boost hose.

There is also a coupon code for 10% off. It's...

And ya, I don't know how long it is. I'll see when it gets here. I'm assuming its long, and will have to trim to fit.

ok i have to say that i just installed my su tmic and love it. you basically get a lot more mid range power..the car keeps pulling hard in every gear and doesn't seem to drop off. now on with the rear boost tube...it sucks ass..you guys all had some kind of slight kink...in my car i had a complete fold...so bad i don't see how air could of gotten through..and im pissed ...and will be complaining to su today

FYI,
Just got the silicon intake boost hose in. It's about a 1/4 inch shorter then the stock boost hose. Don't know if its going to work. Will try for fitment as soon as the car cools down.

Is that the only size they come in? I'm pretty sure it won't work if it is indeed shorter than the stock hose.

well i posted the same thing somewhere else but su is sending me another hose which should fix my problem...i should get it saturday or monday

is that why your using the stock black tube instead? Surprising if that thing kinked on you. Are the ms6 and the ms3 tmic supposed too be the same size?

I have had no probs on my ETS, it was a pain to get the back one in, but did it before bolting it down. to the motor and it went easier.

Wondering on this... if the shroud on the su is welded on there, then why are there 4 screws to also mount onto the sides of the shroud? The ETS doesnt come welded so you can take it off whenever you want, but still has the 4 screws on the sides
