SU Test Pipe Issues

I was thinking of getting this pipe, but if I have to go through all the trouble of getting it bent to fit, forget it. Does anyone sell a test pipe that fits without any modification to it?

The SLS test pipe I had worked without modification with the stock downpipe and cat-back exhaust.

I agree. I read peoples posts saying they had to ghetto rig theres as well and it's just not worth it. Paying $130 for a pipe that doesn't fit, doesn't seem worth it to me. If I woulda known this I wouldn't have gotten it. I had to spend another $50 for the examination and bending of the pipe.

Besides that, I'm happy. Car sounds much deeper, and pulls a tiny bit harder through midrange RPMs.

That is the other thing...the more I read, it appears that the test pipe doesn't really do too much for performance. Thanks for the candid feedback.

No sir, they are NOT all made from the same "mold".

That install looks horrible. I've never seen the SU version installed and I would have never kept it after seeing this. It is indeed straight where the OEM cat has slightly angled flanges. I ran the TXS RP for a while and it was MUCH better looking, asthetically and design.

Here's what a properly designed RP looks like when installed with a CS CBE.

I think your install might be wrong though one of the washers goes on the other side of the bolt.. But besides that yeat its awesome

I looked at the SU exhaust and compared to the Corksport. . . SU sucked. I have the turbo back Corksport and it fit like a dream.

Nah, there is a washer on the other side. You're seeing a flat washer and a lock washer that I added....

k... I just know on mine it had the flat washer on one side and the lock on the other. The place I got it installed put both on one side so I had to fix it :)

Na 4 seconds is believable. There is a youtube vid of a 4.9 sec 0-60. With sticky tires, good road, and a hell of a launch I think its possible. The car hits 60 faster than the advertised specs. I think most places clock the speed 6 at 6 second 0-60. With just an intake I was consistantly doing 5.5ish 0-60's with 4K launches. Haven't launched the car since though :(.

Car and Driver hit 60 in 5.4 seconds, and ran the 1/4 in 14.0 @ 99mph.

OP- Glad you got your pipe fitment straightened out.

I'm curious, since I've seen the corksport race/test pipe has the bend to it.

What if you're using an aftermarket downpipe with the SU test pipe? Does it line up or still have the bend problem? I'm curious about that, lol

I think (but don't quote me 100%) that anything other than the CS DP mounts in the exact same spot as the OEM one, which means it would need the bump to match up right.

LOL...... but wait I'm still confused.

If the Corksport DP doesn't mount in the same position as OEM, why does their race pipe have the angled bend? I would assume to better fit stock DPs for people who don't want to change that.... but will it still align ok with the Corksport DP, or will the race pipe have a portion stickig below the car (which is BAD for me because I already scrape my cat on steep speed bumps).
