Stuttering, Anyone else?

Hey, I've been doing a lot of reading from this forum and have noticed a lot of the MS3's have had stuttering problems. However, I don't have a speed3 just the regular 2.3 engine on a 2006 model.

The problem just started happening after putting in a K&N SRI. Sometimes, in second and third gears ill give the car some gas, it hesitates, then surges(sometimes stuttering after the surge) around 3000 rpm. At first I thought it could be the SRI because I can hear it whistle when I first drop it into gear and when it picks up again.

I checked the SRI for any loose parts but nothing. I read that it could be the MAF getting used to the mass air flow into the engine, but then i've also read bad coils at whatnot (all on MS3's though)

Anyone else have this problem on the regular 2.3 models? The car has 8900 miles on it

Thanks

I had that problem. All I did was buy a MAF cleaner and it went away. They cost like 5-10 bucks and even if it's not the MAF sensor, it's still good to have it around and clean the MAF routinely. Hope that helps

you might want to even ground the throttle body...mine had a slight hesitation after i removed my intake resinator so then i ground the throttle body and my hesitaion or surge went away and now my car even runs smother but not just that it has a better throttle response as well...

what is grounding the throttle body?

also be sure you didn't pull any wires out of your maf. make sure you relieve some pressure by disconnecting it from your battery box.

I just did the ground TB mod and it worked, no more hesitation and immediate response from the engine. I was skeptical that this would work but i haven't been able to replicate the stutter for now. I recommend doing this mod, took 3 seconds quite literally.

Thanks everyone who posted!

Glad that worked for you man hope all stays well....B

guess i spoke to soon....

stutters going around turns for some reason, but only rarely....

kinda annoying im going to recheck all the wiring i'm conviced its the MAF just because at 3000 rpm it opens up again and i know the MAF has something to do with that.

hopefully can get this fixed
