Stutter in 3rd gear...

mine does the same. its done it random times. i havnt been able to recreate it.
went to dealer and they couldnt recreate so they said there was no problem that they could fix. they have to hear to to fix it... what they said. ive heard it like 3 times.

Mine does it 100% of the time. Stop, Put in first, STOMP ON IT, Shift to 2nd, STOMP ON IT, Shift to 3rd, STOMP ON IT......Kinda... It says putt putt putt putt then goes VRoooommm! Its every time. And i dont have to stomp on it in 1st and 2nd for it to happen.

I had this problem also, but it seems to have went away when I went from summer tires to winter tires. Even with the summer setup, it didn't bother me enough to warrant taking it into the dealer. My car's done this since I got it, I thought it was just since the 6 seems to lack torque in the lower RPM then takes off in the midrange. Also car is still stock performace wise.

i've been noticing this stutter problem nowadays my self. it's always done it. even when it was stock. anyone had any luck resolving this issue?

and whats this "spring stretching" thing?

I've a mazdaspeed 3, and I get the same issue - I reckon it's the cam driven fuel pump. It can give a fuel pressure issue at high revs due to some not being 100% 'healthy', but also in higher gears at lowish rpm as it can't respond fast enough under load. The engine stutters, pulling timing and boost, to try and prevent a dangerous a/f ratio. I've ordered protege garage's ptp fuel pump internals and some denso plugs - I'll let you know if it cures my problems. Im ecu tuned by the way, with cpe nano and a 2nd cat delete pipe. Its usually only when tuning the problem really shows, unless your pump is truly sucky.

Hope this helps a bit, but it's just my own suspicions, and from info gleaned across lots of mazda forums. :)

Mine kinda back fires when i put it in the gear and stomp on it. Does that happen to you all????

Mine backfires too but not on the acceleration, only when I left off to do a gear change. Does not happen all the time but it does get annoying.

I've has this problem, and I've tried many things, but the only solution I found was flat-foot shifting with the Accesport.
