hey guys let me start this with i suck at anything wiring. i have an amp subs i just got of a buddy of mine. my question is this. does the 2003 p5 have preouts? and any suggestions on how to hook this up.

thanks

ok is there a way to set it up without the preamps? a clean looking way? or should i buy a new head unit?

Some amps have speaker-level inputs. What amp and subwoofers do you have?

If the amp doesn't have speaker-level inputs you have two options. 1) Purchase a new head unit ($100-500) or 2) Purchase a LOC (line out converter, $25).

Check out www.davidnavone.com for LOCs.

personally, i think the stock radio should be replaced if you are replacing the rest of the system. you'll get the most out of it that way.

currently i have 2 10" kicker comps and a kicker amp. my head unit is the stock 6 disc in dash cd changer. does this matter

I agree, but unless you are upgrading speakers also, it won't improve the sound very much. Plus, you can build a system and once it is all installed, you can make a decision whether to upgrade the head unit.

does the amp take line level inputs? i am not familiar with kicker amps... if it does then you don't need to do anything but splice into the speaker wire and run them to the amp and then from the amp to the speakers/subs....
