Struggling w Premium decision

Push button transmission? God, talk about how to make a boring drive even less engaging on-top of that CVT tranny.

Mango is frisky tonight boys and girls.

I've seen the push button transmissions on the acura tlx on their v6 models and the 2018 honda accords have push button transmission for their top trims too I believe. Not sure what other cars have them but I'm not crazy over them. In fact I was kind of disappointed that the accord is going with that too. First cvt now push button transmission :(

Think this thread has run it's course...

What is a push-button transmission? Only ones I've ever seen were like this, and I know it's not like this, but is it the same idea?
Honda has push-button 9-speed automatic transmission on Pilot Touring and Elite trims since 2016. General opinion is the layout is nonsensical, and the buttons are awkward to use.

Strangely in Europe Honda offers 1.5L Turbo Earth Dreams in CR-V but pairing with a 9-speed automatic transmission instead of a CVT.

The problem I have with Honda's pushbutton transmission is that it takes up as much center console real estate as the shift lever it replaced. So what's the point of it then? I have mixed feelings about Chrysler's shift knob, but at least it cleans up the dash.

How many threads have been derailed because of never ending arguments about the CRV being superior to the CX-5? You either put him on your ignore list or something else has to be done.

Wow push button transmission, what a breakthrough. My old 59 dodge had that, wasn't impressed then.Less impressed now

Agreed..added f*cktard to my list as I'm as guilty as anyone for letting his bs rile me up at times..really didn't want to censor him out but its just gotten beyond stupid now...see if it helps.

Honda offers a ton of options in the CRV worldwide, alot of them depend on whether or not Acura is also in that same market. If they aren't, they throw as many options as they can into the car(3rd row, Panoramic sunroof, ceiling AC vents, HUD, push button transmission etc...). If Acura is in the same market, they don't offer as many. I don't know what to think of that Push-button transmission, never used one before. I honestly don't see the point of that layout in the picture. I mean they're not saving any space there by adding buttons instead of a normal shifter. Maybe they think pushing a button 'feels' better than using a traditional shifter.

Well, the thread has derailed, but back to the original question... I love the HUD and can't see living without it. I don't want to look down at the speedo while driving. HUD also shows you speed limit. Also, the memory seats and power passenger seat were worth it for me because the CX-5 belongs to my spouse, but I find myself driving it more and more. Always good to have 2 seat memories. It's all relative. $1,850 on a $32,000 car doesn't seem like that much.
