Strange Idle!!! Possible Clicking sound related?????

BOTH OF YOU GUYS CAN TAKE YOUR CARS AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR RESPECTIVE ASSES.... NOW THATS ANAL! You know BIG BEN I keep reading posts of your that are inflammatory or bashing. Didn't your mother teach you anything....If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all. I mean you guys may be willing to bend over and take it up the shoot at the drop of a hat but I am not getting f@cked over BY ANYBODY! I paid for what I thought was a quality product and I am not seeing the quality in it.

All that I want is for my car to be like it was when I bought it. Which was only 3 months ago. I don't think that is asking too much of a $20k car. IS IT???? and the way that I have been treated is just BS from the dealership.

You know the more I sit here and read the 2 posts from Big Ben and KYREDP5 the more it pisses me off. These boards are supposed to be a place to discuss things like these and gripes about our cars. I keep hearing this is a family enviroment and very friendly. Well when I read posts from the likes ofBIG BEN I don't see the freindliness. This has nothing to do with rice and this has nothing to do with a me this is my car. Calling me anal is just a personal attack. Which as said many times before in response to posts that BIG BEN has made you don't know me well enough to make any assumptions about me and certainly not any conclusions. Just because your car is all phucked up becuase of you and your pissed that you can't get it fixed doesn't mean that you have to take it out on the rest of us. And as far as KYREDP5 you live up to your title you gave yourself "PRO_BONER" because only a boner or lemming would follow someone like Big Ben. Gee I guess I don't listen to my mother either cause I have nothing nice to say to either one of you guys yet I am still typing.


Well for anyone else that has been following the tread the car is still acting up and I am taking it in today. the service manager was concerned about the rise in idle at 1500 (HE said it SHOULD NOT be doing that) He wants me to take him for a ride in the car with me driving so that I can show him exactly what I am talking about and then he wants to drive it. I'll let you guys know what happens later.

Just because your car is all phucked up becuase of you and your pissed that you can't get it fixed doesn't mean that you have to take it out on the rest of us.

Now, can you please tell me how I was bashing you. I just said you were anal. s***, if that hurts your feelings, you are pretty pathetic. Now that is attacking you. I never said one bad word to you, but as soon as I just make the simple non-agressive observation that you are a little anal, you start calling me and the other guy names. You need to take a step back and look at who is doing the bashing. It definetely isn't me. Grow up please.
 
Yes I do take it personal someone calling me TOO ANAL. Especially when I am talking about something that has taken time out of my day and something that I think is not right or the way they should be. So I got a little defensive yes. I am GROWN UP enough to admit that. But I also told you exactly where I was coming from in that you have nothing useful or helpful too say most of the time and that you are constantly involved in this type of post where an argument insues because of a comment you made. OK MAYBE I AM ANAL as you call it but I call it PARTICULAR. When you post something like that with liitle or no other info or elaboration as to why you think I am too anal then yes I will take it as a personal attack.

You know what I am not going to let you turn this around on me so that I am the bad guy here because of something you said. If you had reasons for saying it then you should have posted them. Maybe I would have read it differently if you had expained. And as for the other guy. My opinion stands because all he did was agree with you with no explanation as to why.

I will not post on this again and will get back on topic with this thread now that I have explained where I am coming from. If you have something useful to say or would like to explain where you are coming from instead of throwing what I said back in my face then great welcome to the community but I will not waste my time fighting with you and let this turn into a war.

Talk directly to the man in charge. Now were getting somewhere. While on the drive ask him about the fusable link and all that crap too.

Don't worry about Ben, He's just the residant Ball Breaker. You get used to it after a while.
 
I took my car to the dealer to get my idle fixed. It also fluxuated after I get gas for about 5 mins. They took off the charcoal filter under gas tank and dried it out. Because of over filling the tank caused fuel to get in the canster that is only supposed to hold fumes. Runs great now no idle problems. Try that. Hope that helps someone.
 
Ok so it has been a few days since I updated this. Had to cool down. My car, NO WAIT MY DEALERSHIP has royally pissed me off. I took it in and had the Service manager drive it. He saw exactly what I was talking about BUT said that the car was completely normal!!!! His conclusion about my car was that it was not properly setup from the factory or the dealer when I bought it. So the computer was able to compensate for the improper setting until it got really cold( which is kind of when I started having alot of problems with it) SOOOO that means I have been driving my car screwed up since I bought it 4000 miles ago. HMMMM NOT GOOD!!!! What he said made sense to me knowing that these cars are almost completely controlled by computer when it comes to engine functions. So I had him record that I came back in and had the car checked out and what his diagnosis was. I left and thought that my problems were over. He said that he called several people including the Mazda Q&A guy that knows of all the current problems with cars and deals with lemon law cars and recalls. He told me he would call me if any of them said anything different on my car. He also said that I could come back in and drive a 5 spd P5 (when they get one in) to insure how a properly setup P5 should run. Well I never heard anything back from him.

And then last night I go to leave work and I get like 1 minute from my office and the damn CEL comes on. I immediately stop the car and pullover and call the dealer. The guy tells me to make sure that my gas cap is on correctly. UHHH ok but I haven't filled up since before I was in there last week I tell him. He then tells me that it is ok to drive with the CEL on and that there is most likely nothing major to worry about because the CEL is not blinking. Well after a rather heated discussion I flat out told them that they would have a loaner car waiting for me and that I would be there in 20 minutes. The discussion was about wether or not last weeks problems had anything to do with the CEL coming on. He didn't think so! I did! He argued about giving me a loaner again and made it sound like he was going to give me a damn priceless automobile to drive and that he was doing me this huge favor. Well I drop my car off and I tell him what the S.MGR and I had talked about and this guy(same guy I have been working with the whole time on my car) tells me this is the first he has heard of any of this. HMMM communication problem!!!!! Welll you ought to see this piece of s*** they gave me to drive. Not that the car as in model is a piece but the condition of the car. It is a 2001 Protege ES auto, cloth , sunroof. First off the smell of gasoline was so strong on the inside I was afraid to light a cigarette in it. Second this thing is so freaking nasty dirty that I only got like a minute down the road before I had to go and buy some windex to clean the windows. You wouldn't have beleived the layer of just s*** that came off of the windows. Overall the car was just trashed. Such a shame cause it only has 5K on it. Well I left with him telling me that my car would be first in the morning and as soon as he got it hooked up to the computer and found out what the problem was he would call me. I again verified my cell number and work # with them. It is now almost 11 and still no call. CAN YOU SAY VISIT #3 OF 4 that are required for lemon law. I flat out told the manager last week that the only reason I brought up lemon laws in the first place was because of how I was being treated about the problems with my car. If somebody had actually shown me a little respect and some actual effort in trying to fix my car I wouldn't have been this irate or upset. I will post again when I hear from them .

BTW. the S. MGR told me that it was my BASE IDLE that was not properly set from the factory and that they set it back to factory specs.
 
wELL JUST GOT OFF THE phone with the dealer and they say that all of this was caused by a faulty IAC valve. What is that???? They said that mine was "Sticking" Also told me that they had been on the phone with the cali. rep from mazda all morning trying to diagnos the problem. I am going to pick it up after work and will just have to wait and see then. This will be the 3rd time that they have told me everything is fixed and your car is fine. We will just have to wait and see. Even if it is fixed I have actually been thinking about selling the car if lemon law doesn't kick in. I am soooooooooo thoroughly disgusted with the service from my mazda dealer that I don't want to deal with them at all anymore. thinking of going with one of my original 3 choices. Since the P5 is not included in that 3 anymore I have left the Subu WRX wagon or a Mini Cooper S. I have found both of these cars close by and could get a deal on either one but I will just have to wait and see. This was visit # 3 of 4 like I said before so who knows what will happen next.

BTW thanks again for everybody listening to me rant about my car and dealer. I thought I was going crazy and imagining all of this for a while.
 
I know how you feel. Is there any other Mazda dealer near you?

The IAC valve is the common cuase of idle problems with our engines. Typicaly they need cleaning. the old Probes we share an engine with were natorious for this.
 
There is one other mazda dealer here in charlotte but I have heard horror stories from friends with mazdas about the service there. Including several from my roommate. He used to own a 95 RX7 R1. Had some problems with the injectors or something and they gave him the run around for like 4 months. I guess they are worth a shot but the other downside is that they are completely on the other side of the city from where I live and work. It is like 45 minute drive drive from home.

So does this mean that I have more to look forward to on these???? Also isn't a little early for something like this to be going wrong?????
 
This was the common problem. Ususualy an hour worth of time cleaning it would solve all the problems. From what I have read the best thing to aviod it is to keep th air filter clean.
