Are you keeping it in a garage? (i hope)

Yea, it'll be in a garage. BUt should I put any sort of special oil in it?? Unhook the battery?? Anything at all to protect it from anything that might be caused by it sitting for that long.

I've stored my MR2 over winter once. Here's what I did...

1- Park the car in place where you're storing it, then pull the spark plugs and put in a couple of squirts of motor oil inside the pistons to help coat the pistons, walls and rings, then pull the EFI fuse and crank the motor for a few seconds to spread the oil around. If you're worried about anyone stealing the car, take the EFI fuse and stash somewhere safe - noone will be able to start the car without the fuse. Reinstall the plugs.

2- Put some Stabil (gasoline stabilizer) in the gas tank to keep moisture from getting into the tank.

3- Put 5-10 extra PSI of air in the tires, just in case you have any leaks and to keep them round.

4- Disconnect the battery to prevent it from being drained by various accessories.

5- Close all vents to keep any critters from getting inside.

6- Put in a decent air freshener that you like to keep the inside from getting musty.

Note: if it is raining or the car gets wet a day or two before you shut it down for storage be sure to run the heat full blast with the windows open and the AC on for 15 minutes to dry everything out.

I hope this helps.

doing all of the above is GREAT.....the only one you could get away with NOT doing is the gas stabilizer....but ONLY if you fill the tank all the way up just before storeage...if the tank is full...there is no air pocket to have moisture condence inside your tank...

also....after cleaning it to like new...and waxing it....even if its in a garage....I advise covering it. even a very simple cover made from old sheets over it will help.....as no dust will settle on the paint.

thx for yur help guys, i never woulda thought of pullin the fuses or the spark plugs. Theres not gonna be anybody to drive it around the block (i cant trust my bro not to beat on it and/or crash it). I think with all yur suggestions my car should be in good condition when i get back behind the wheel.

No, its in the fuse box located in the engine compartment next to the battery. Take the cap off the box and flip it over, there is a diagram on the uderside of the cap showing what the fuses are for. On mine it says INJ/FPI or something like that... its the pink 30A one closest to front.

EDIT: you can optionally remove the fuel pump relay if you like, its in the same fuse box, big one, last one located at the back (towards cabin). But if you should lose it or damage it I would think it would cost you a lot more to replace than the fuse.

a bit of baking soda

A pie pan of baking soda in the car helps absorb any untoward odors.

Also, sprinkle some camphor flakes around the car to keep the mice away - they LOVE to crawl inside exhausts and engine compartments and make nests.

good ideas all! I'd say add gas stabilizer regardless, pull the fuse, get a $10 tricklecharger to save the battery, and jack it up to save the tires if possible. A couple sheets on it would be nice. And do the baking soda thing

Oh yes, I'm sure everyone knows about "the baking soda thing".
