Stopped Runing While On Highway!!!!

Engine just turned off while on highway! Got gas but no spark, checked all the engine FUSES under hood but no spark? Does any one have any IDEA what else to check? It does turn over, can I try to get a code with out it runing? PROTEGE 2000 1.6.... anything will help.

Wish I could be of help. But I had that same thing happen a couple of times with my old Cadillac. btw, I own a 2000 1.6 also.

all u need for the obd-II to read is to turn the key to on, u dont need to turn it over. see if you get any codes with that before u start trying to diagnose it

Check the wires and the plugs and all that good stuff as well, but as said above get a code before you come to any conclusions.

thats really weird. just go hit up your local autoparts store and they should let you use the code reader for free.

Oh yeah the BELT broke. Thats why it went real silent, only the wind noise. They do not let you take the code reader out for a ride.
