Have you talked to an officer yet and told him about your situation? He may have some insight as to what you should do and how to prove they are your wheels. The Civic owner could say that the wheels came with the car when he bought it, so he wouldn't need a receipt. The only leg you may have to stand on is the fact your neighbor may be able to positively identify the vehicle. Even then, you go to civil court and probably spend more in lawyers fees than new wheels/tires.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, I just don't want you getting caught up in trying to "bust" them when it could be an up-hill battle. I hope you do find who stole them, I hope you get compensated entirely, and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

I agree, but if its rims, it would prolly fall into small claims court, and you dont need a lawyer. If you pay for legal advice, than yea. You can only sue up to a certain amount in small claims court, otherwise you need a lawyer and go into other civil courts which you can sue more. Varies from state to state.

+ paint = $1500?

well they wouldnt have to pay "as" much with him. and the more money u save on a lawyer the better the outcome on a court case. and if u do sue them, sue them for more than just parts and labor. they need to learn a lesson. u should sue them for everything even the inconvience

My rims are stock, but putting some unique number on your rims (if the manufacture doesn't) sounds like a brilliant idea. Put it back or something so you can see it if you peek behind it with a flash light and dental mirror. Just seems like a good idea.

Well, I found a green Honda civic that matches the original description(EXACTLY) given to me by my neighbor . I has a set of wheels with the same color/size/lugnut/etc... but different tires.

I'm waiting for my neighbor to come home so she can positively identify the car.
If the car IS the one she saw, I'm calling the authorities ASAP.
I want a NEW set of wheels (because theyre f'ing curbed to hell)with MY tires and a new set of lugnuts.
The fuckers will be in jail and will pay every penny to have new wheels ordered and mouted and balanced.
They will also pay every penny to have the front bumper cover repainted as well as the price for new rotors.
