Stock Tire Ware

Hey guys

What is an acceptable milage for the stock tires to ware out. Im at 16500 and I have to order a new set already. Ive had them rotated every other oil change. And the alignment is fine. And looking at the tires the ware is even. Is 16500 acceptable? Thanks for the help

I would say you have done alright with 16,500. It depends on your driving style. Some have got 10,000 miles or less. Some have got over 20,000 miles.
So I would say you are around average wear. I have about 11,000 miles on my stockers and probably have another 5,000-7,000 miles of tire left.

I feel I drive pretty spirited (I live around ALOT of windy back roads, so locking up the brakes into corners, and such is not uncommon, and I attend a couple autox's a year) I also take quite a bit of long drives. Ill have the car one year soon, and I will have 20k miles. My tires are basically done, they could be better, but I unfortunately neglected to rotate my tires earlier. So all these people getting way less, well they are either doing burnout galore, or did the same as me and did not rotate. If rotated every oil change I feel you could get 25k out of them, maybe more depending on your driving style.

i believe it really depends on how you drive. Rotating will help a lot and keep the wear even. I don't do burn outs, but a love me some on/off ramps. I can't resist and i must be a freak because i hate it when other cars are in front of me on the on/off ramp which means i can't go as fast as i want to. Well back to the point ... i rotated twice and have about 8500 miles and and very close to the wear bars. I'm just guessing, but i probably have about 5000 miles or less left.
What surprised me is that road and track was able to get about 35000 but they said it looked like slicks by the time they changed it.

I drive hard occasionally, rotated the tires at 3k and 6k, and I am at 6/32s or better. Not even close to the wear bar. Right now I have 8600 miles.
