My car had been in the shop for like 3 weeks, I put it in the ditch, and the dealership(which I reported to Mazda and will never go to again) was dicking around taking forever to get parts, and saying it was done, only to have me drive down the road a mile and turn around to come back because the wheel bearing was LOUD (I could hear it over my stereo even.) The night before I was supposed to pick it up (they were FINALLY done fixing it) some waste of a life broke into my car through the small back window and snagged the head unit. My seat was down, and the sub was sitting right there, they didn't even touch it, but they smashed the window with my parking permit (yet another hassle to get replaced) and ripped off the dash, taking my head unit with them. It's a b****, but can't do anything about it. So my car's sitting there for another 2 weeks while they get a new head unit.
Anyway-
What was the original market value of the Z828? I know the dealership is going to try to dick me over and try to put in a bad unit to keep their insurance claim lower. They called and said they would get a 'comparable' unit. Just want to keep an eye on them. What would a comparable Kenwood be these days? Anyone have some sort of record saying how much a Z828 cost in 2001? Or have a general idea of how much a unit like that would have cost to put in?
