Stock speakers

What does the car have for stock speakers? Are they 6" or 5 1/4"? Does it even matter to specify on the stereo config? I am having nothing but problems with the factory sub and want to know the settings I should have the deck at or am I just doomed? I know the sub is a POS, but it sounds perfectly good when it isn't blown. Please help.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that its 6" x 8" in the front and "6 1/2" in the rear doors. We also have 6" x 9" empty slots in the rear window. As for the sub, don't set it very high (turn the bass down). I don't think the sub is why it sounds bad, it is the plastic holder its in. If you put it in a wood box, it would sound better.

No, the sub/amp combo definitely is the weak link in the system. I just recently replaced it with a 12" MTX sub and it sounds a world apart from the stock setup.

Does this also apply in speaker size for the Protege5 except for the rear deck???????

Yup, except both are actualy 6" rear speakers. A 6.5" can be used though.

All 3rd generation protege have the same size front speakers., hell for that matter the same 4 doors.
