This issue has been covered and beaten to death.

The stock BPV (stands for ByPass Valve) is just that, a bypass. If you run it open, or Vent to Atmosphere (BOV), you'll run super rich on the shifts. Some people say "no big deal", others cry out that it completely ruins the car. Somewhere in the middle is the truth, but for sure it isn't something that has zero disadvantages. Oh, and it will slow you down, this has been documented. If you want to hear the BPV, there are some options:

The cheap way is to cut the stock airbox up a bit (which you can search about), and you'll hear the BPV clearly.

The better and more expensive way is to buy an SRI or CAI (intakes) and you'll hear it nice and loudly.

As well, you can purchase an aftermarket BPV that recirculates like they should, and it will also sound louder, especially with the other mods mentioned above.

thanks for the .02

i appriciate the know how on this topic i love turbo engines an know almost nothing about them well i know some but some areas are still grey lol.

appriciate it

ive tried to run the stock valve VTA and not only do u run rich on shifts but it leaks metered air at idle because the spring is not tight enuff...dont do it.

my main concern with the whole thing on wheather or not it will damage the engine and everything that i have found on this subject dosnt really say weather or not it will harm the engine

It won't damage the engine but running vta will cause back fire. If you get the intake, you'll hear the stock bov.

so you dont mind going slower if you can shift like paul walker huh?...

freakin ricers

hope you like bad mileage and bad air fuel ratios lol

It's cool, Rob.

Just try to find another way around it if you are after the sound. Afterall, you want to be either beside someone or in front of them when you are making that noise, not behind. LOL. Meaning, you don't want to be slower, because it kinda takes the intimidation right out of it if you know what I mean.

IMO, if you want a LOT of that sound, get an SRI like Cobb and you should be impressed.

The cobb SRI is like $175.

You'll hear the turbo spooling and you'll hear the stock BPV.

AND You'll go faster.

If you can't afford a $175 part, then leave your car alone, cause if it breaks you won't be able to afford to repair it.

Save up your pennies, get the cobb. Thats all I've done so far, and an intake is by far one of the best mods you can do to this car, both sound and speed wise. I promise its worth it, and anyone else who has done this will tell you the same thing.

Well the sound is all i'm really after.... plus going faster, but if its going to make me go slower than i can sacrifice the damn sound lol i'm just waiting for the ability to get my intake without the wife getting mad that i spent alot f money :P thanks for everyones input (deadhorse

ive tryed running vta and the only thing it did is make the turbo lag more noticeable, and the engien light to come on..... wodent recommend it, thease engines are made a curtin way for a reason!
