Stock air box a pain to reattach?

I've recently completed a tune-up on my 2003 LX (FS-DE engine) and tried to reattach the stock air box cover after replacing the air filter. I've tried multiple ways, but I cannot make the three tabs on the left of the air box go under those U-shaped brackets. Only the first one will go under, and the filter seal gets in the way of the rear two. Any tips?

What kind of air filter are you using? My first thought is that maybe the filter is oversized. See if you can get ahold of another brand and try it out.

Is the filter upside down by any chance?
