My Protoge5 driver wiper arm starts to stiffen up lately. The spring mechanism on the passenger side does what its suppsed to: As the blade moves over the shield, the arm bends back slightly, and springs back as the arm moves downward. The driver side does not spring back.
I manually move the arm to see. The joint is basically stiff and get's stuck. Not sure how it got that way. The best I could do in a quick fix was spray WD-40 on the joint then lubricate it by moving the arm back and forth. This seems to have helped for now, but I anticipate in wet weather, the 40 will come off and it will re-stiffen.
Is there I permanent fix I can apply here without replacing the arm?
