sti exhaust sound/perrin exhaust

Honestly find the muffler you like the sound of best (mine is the HKS Carbon TI) and get a exhaust custom made. My friend can weld one all up for 600. I just have to bring him the muffler.
This!!
IMO it's silly to pay hundreds of dollars for a pre made exhaust.
I went to a local hole in the wall exhaust shop, had a 3" stainless exhaust done with a magnaflow muffler and welded on the stock MSP tip. $275 and 1 hour later I was out the door with new muffler and exhaust. I've never been a fan of magnaflow as it reminds me of big jacked up trucks, but I made a deal with the guy...if it sounds like s***, I get work done for $50 but damn I've never had so many compliments on just an exhaust tone before.

If you just buy the muffler you can have the shop put on the OEM tip, it will give you more of a "sleeper" look and if anything you won't have a huge 3"+ muffler tip. Maybe it's just me, but i've never liked that.

And with out cat, what the difference? I am wondering myself if i should remove mine when i will install my ghl and my thunder manifold lol, it may look stupid but i like the deep and the Low tone with some rumble , if i remove the cat , will it sound like a gtfo civic vtec( with a h ;) ) ? :P

Thanks

The part that will mostly effect how the car sounds is the muffler.
Do some research or hunt through youtube and find an muffler you like. Look for just mostly MSP as a V6 or a V8 or even a NA 4cyl could have the same muffler but sound completely different.
It will sound like zooooooooooooooom gurgle gurgle pop! pop! True story.

This.

Loll allright well i cant change my muffler since i have a varex . I can only play with other part :P

How would it sound if I kept the stock muffler and switched out everything else. Got the 3in downpipe and went 3in all the way back. Would it be a noticeable sound difference?

not really. My 3" necks down to whatever the greddy sp2 (I believe stock sized) and i didnt notice any tone different when goign to 3" dp with 3" catless midpipe. Maybe just a tab bit deaper but thats about it.

So would it not be worth getting the downpipe and getting a 3in pipe back to the muffler? It wouldn't make much of a difference in sound?

I did a 3" dp and 3" catless midpipe at the same time and it made HUGE difference in the way the car reacts and performs

I don't trust ebay manifolds. Some have used them in the past but, I would stick to well known vendors.

Those ebay manis look like an exact copy of the Thunder MSP mani....

Not to mention they claim, "prewelded 38mm wastegate flange". I didn't see it. Anyone else see it? Maybe the manifold looks different but they are using a pic of the thunder.
