I just went through the 2013 rulebook. and could not find a firm answer. Are we allowed in STF to create heat shields for intakes?

I see an allowance in SP for heat sheilds but no mention in Street Touring.

Ok I had this issue a few years ago with my STR project, initially I made a plexiglass shield in the engine bay of my Spyder; I worked awesome but some national level drivers thought that design would be ilegal because was not "in contact" with the actual intake:

Then I had to design something better wich was in contact with the intake and then everybody was happy at Nationals:

what about wrapping the intake?

That should br ok.

That is cool looking with the whole thing being clear. How long did it take to cut it out?

Hey, I used that same auto-zone battery tie down kit for the braille battery in my wrx.

And that plexiglass heat shield is pretty awesome.

Interesting, so if it is in contact with the intake its considered a part of the intake.

Andres that intake looks like magic.

Any heatshield, duct, shroud, etc must be physically connected to the intake system. This can be done with hot glue/double sided tape and zip ties. No joke.
