Stereo Speakers Cut Out?

I jsut bought a Mazda 3 i touring and for some reason when I shift gears the speakers cut out and the sound only comes through the front tweeters. To get the speakers working it seems like I need to adjust the volume or put the clutch in... anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like you have an intermittent short somewhere, probably in the speaker wires. Is this an older 3? If new you need to go back to the dealer asap.

Is it a new one (08.5)? Your issue sounds similar to the problem with all the 08.5's where the bass cuts out randomly at volume levels over 34, but comes back if you change the volume again. There's a long thread on it here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123699395
