Stereo Removal for Ipod hookup

So I want to take out the Kenwood Excelon Z828 so I can plug my ipod into the back auxiliary. Has anyone done this that can help me out? Is there a special tool I need to remove the deck? Should I go to a specialist? Any responses are appreciated.

No you dont need a specialist. You will need this... http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCODT1
I have done this and its fairly easy.

you can get it out with a flathead screwdriver. Pop the little trim off around the front faceplate. The little snap that holds the head unit in its mounting box is right there in the open on each side.. Just use the screwdriver to "unsnap" them(no prying) and the unit will slide right out of the mounting box. run your ipod wire under the dash and up to the back and slide the head unit back in.

sorry man.

i guess im remembering those clips from the new mounting box i put in.

use a flathead screwdriver and put it underneath the trim piece that goes around the whole radio and heater controls and s*** and pry it off. then take the two hex bolts out and itl come out.

ok well i got the din tools and they didnt fit or work, so i went to a guy and now the unit is pulled out like halfway. can't get it out the whole way due to the cord hookups. im at a standstill now because i don't know how to go about getting to the back of the unit. damn

hey man... 1 screwdriver woulda got the trim piece off and then theres 2 bolts that hold the plastic tray(DIN adapter) which the head unit mounts too... it woulda came right out.

you can even see one of the bolts in Your picture behind the trim piece. In the middle picture just to the bottom right of the head unit.

how do you plan on connecting your ipod to the stereo. because the only input is a BUS and I haven't found any cables that can adapt to it

I am not a dumbass I know what an RCA cable is but my mp3 the does not have an rca input

z919 and z828

mp3 had either one or the other of those 2 kenwood models.

i had a z828 and it had an aux input
