Steps to get 300WHP

Hi there,

I thought I'd make a thread showing what steps are involved and what you would need to get 300WHP

Now for all you FI gurus since I don't actually know the steps could you start it out, what would be the first thing you would need to get to that goal??

I don't really care about price but if you want to add price that would be cool too.

probably a turbo upgrade. has anybody even hit 300 whp yet? you'd probably wanna do something about your transmission, not sure whats out there to do but maybe you could be the first.

forged internals, better turbo, exhaust, fmic, more boost (of course) and some type of engine management... then a new clutch to hold all that power. and tranny support of some sort

forged internals , larger turbo , standalone engine managment , 3" (real) turboback exhaust, front mount intercooler ,a really good clutch, uber light weight wheels (stock weighs 33 lb with rubber) , motor mounts , about 12-18 psi (depending on turbo) a better lsd , fuel rail , 440cc injectors , cryo the tranny, jetcoat and wrap everything, custom exhaust mani , port everything ,look into axle a pinch of fairy dust ,some luck and alot of cash and patience

well start off by getting all the bolt ons. FMIC, SRI, 3" Turboback Exhaust. That should get you around 190whp at stock boost. Then get a electronic boost controller and MPI tuner. At 8psi tuned I have seen as high as 240whp. At this point it would be wise to upgrade the clutch and maybe lightened flywheel. Then some forged internals and upgrade the turbo to a gt28rs. At this point you should be well over the 300whp point. Then to put the power to the ground get some motor mounts, lowering springs, and better tires. Then enjoy!

Um let's see here. An Evo, an Sti, or if you're really feeling froggy a Mustang GT all come to mind. lol.

Not really, Our car (P5 Turbo) makes 320 WHP and took all WRXs, STIs and EVOs besides many Mustangs and Camaros at the track 2 weeks ago.
We ran 12.5 at 112 MPH.

Our mods:

HiBoost Turbo kit, forged rods (stock pistons), Haltech E6X engine management, ACT street clutch (organic disc), stock engine mounts, Racing slicks, rear skinies, Haltech controlled boost controller, 440 RC fuel injectors and 22 psi of boost.

It all depends on who gives the right advice. There are people spending a lot of money in parts that are not really needed.

No sense of humor Juan. :D It was just my playful way of saying that there are easier ways to get 300 whp than building up an FS-DE. That said, HiBoost's car is a perfect example of how much more satisfying it is to have a car that most don't consider to be very fast and be able to take it out and smoke the Evos and Stis of the world.

Now seriously, I would recomend that if a MSP owner wants to get up to 300 whp, follow the example of the P5 and MP3 owners. They are the ones turning out the serious numbers. We may have the turbo already from the factory, but in an effort to reach big numbers it seems to be more of a burdon than a blessing not to mention our ECU. MAM's Thumper is looking mighty promising.

hey with a bigger turbo wont u have to do the manifold? if so where can u get a good one at please inform me thanx!

Depends on what size turbo. Be more specific?

I would love to hear what you would suggest for us msp'ers to reach 300whp.

Wow, Excellent so far,

would it be at all possible to post reputible company names of good parts??

Also is a custom FMIC just as good as a FMIC say from ION,Hiboost ETC?
the Haltech Stand alone is it easy to tune or would you need a professional to tune it?

The tranny will hold..

Loose Quote from Maximum Boost...

" A Manual transmission is designed to handle more stress in first gear stock than any turbo can put to it in Second gear "

Because you will spin your tires (Believe Me) in first gear for anyting over 4 Psi, you need not worry about it. Motor Mounts and Clutch should be all you need to worry about. Driveshafts on the other hand...???

Also what is the best clutch to get, I see alot of people getting the street clutch from ACT 4 puck, is that enough??

Also juan I would love to here from you about getting us msp'ers to 300Whp(2thumbs) (2thumbs)

I would like to point out that I did get internals, so don;t think that I'm saying that they are a waste!!

everyone will know soon. 300 whp is less than 1 week away... dyno next week for me.

I should post all these q's in the same post but I think of more as I go,

What type of gauges should you have if you are going towards 300whp
or any other type of monitoring system??
