Anyone know of any manufacturer making a stealth box for our 3s? I have a speed3 and wouldn't mind some more bass. No room for a traditional box though I need it for my bunker gear. Thanks.

care to lose your tire well?

The "other Mazda3 forum" that shall remain nameless has a GB for a custom stealthbox that goes where your car jack currently resides on the left side of the hatch area. Room enough for a 8im sub... I have had one for a while now with a JL audio sub and it sounds nice.....

That GB is dead for some reason. Seems to have turned sour. You got one through that? How easy of an install was it?

I am a Fire Fighter, and I float, which means I do not have a station bid. Therefore I have to carry my gear from station to station. Not sure if you have ever seen a bag with bunker gear but it fills about half of my hatch. The rest of it is taken by my bedding and a bag with work clothes. So space is at a premium. Also I can not afford to lose my spare in case I get a flat on the way to work, that would be hard to explain to the Captain or Chief for that matter.

try www.millionbuy.com the have alot of subs and stuff really really cheap and the have a few boxes u might be able to use....
I'm not so confident about that site. JL Audio does not authorize online sales so some if not all of the products they sell come with lovely voided warranties because they are most likely not an authorized online vendor.

The eD sub opens up some possibilities but there are other companies that make similar models such as Pioneer.

From the sound of it, you really don't have room for a subwoofer in your car. Even if you built a custom fiberglass enclosure it would still take up quite a bit of space. Your best bet is probably to upgrade the speakers in the front and rear and install a 4-channel aftermarket amp under one of the seats. It won't pound like a 12" sub but it will be a big improvement.

You think some aftermarket speakers and a amp will improve bass? I think the overall quality will be improved but bass? I am just a novice when it comes to audio. Just curious cause I would like to get more bass and was for a moment concidering the bass tube deal. Just so I can take it out if I need the hole space to haul crap.

If you upgrade the head unit and speakers and add an amp, yes bass output will be improved. The stock system drops off drastically below 100Hz. Any bass you here is just a boost around 100-120Hz.

the pioneer doesnt come with a 5 year warranty and tech support for life. :)

With Pioneer, you won't need it.

opinions are opinions and thats all car audio is. its good to know you have one. imo the only thing pioneer has going for them is their premier line of speakers and thats only if they are being used properly.. where most would not have the proper variables either in their install. those flat series subs from pioneer are not in that premier line. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/p....html?compName=PNA_V3_ProductDetailsComponent the pioneer is also more than twice the price and will not advertise the subs linear movement. when a company fails to do that, especially one their size, it generally means that the majority of the subs throw is non linear.. which does 2 things. it decrease sound quality and will shorten the life of the driver. if you have problems with brands such as elemental because the owner has chosen not to be a mainstream brand and doesnt want to mass market em, and you have to go with a big name brand.. JL makes flat series woofers also.
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/jlaudio_pages.php?page_id=213
and they have posted the linear xmax of the driver at 9.7mm, where the elemental brand is right at 9.3mm. with a slimline subwoofer you arent doing to get a ton more throw than that just because the reward clearance just isnt there. the major difference between the JL and the eD driver would come down to pure price. JL is a great brand but they are rather spendy for what you get.

i have no problems with opinions on car audio.. cuz thats what makes it fun. i wouldnt compete if there wasnt something to it. but unless you can show me proof of pioneers failure rate having a lower % than elemental.. the pioneer not needing the 5 year warranty comment is really unwarranted.

If you add a sub to your car, you'll definitely want to upgrade your front and rear speakers as chuyler1 said. And aftermarket sub will easily overpower the pitiful output of the Bose system on the MS3. I have a 10" Boston Acoustics Pro sub and it requires only a 1cu.ft. sealed box. Something that size will easily fit in the hatch with room to spare and you could even mount a small 200W single channel sub to the box and it wouldn't take up that much more space. However, I'd consider adding some quick connect/disconnects for the power and ground cables so you can take the sub-box + amp out at a moments notice. Then you can have your 4-channel amp in place of the Bose under the passenger seat.

This is actually what I plan on doing once I get all my stuff out of my mustang and sell it.

Hope you find a solution that suits your needs!

u can get a 10" sub in a single sub box and put a metal grill over the sub so when u put stuf like big bags in ur trunk u wont break the sub....u can get mono amps very cheap at that website...and they are small ...u can screw the amp on the back of the box so if you have to remove the sub its all together , jsut unplug the ground, power and the pos n neg cables which would take 2 mins.....a single sub box shouldnt be a problem if u have the back seats folded down.
