Stalling at IDLE again w/ the MPI

I recently had some work done on my car and I'm guessing theydisconnected the battery which reset the ECU and so now what I'm told is that the ECU has to re-learn my MPI maps....

Well big problem I'm having right now is that I'm stalling again in neutral... The RPM's just shoot all the way down and it either dies or the battery jump starts it. I had this same problem after I first installed the MPI tuner.

I've toyed around with the 1x16 map in the analog fuel a bit to stablize the idle when my car is parked and it's right around 14.7 or so but jumps around- but doesn't die... It only happens when I'm driving and come to a stop and let the rpms dip below 1K....

This sucks!!!! Is it somehting I just wait out and see if the ECU learns the map? Last time it took 3 days befoer it got better. But in those three days I replaced the spark plugs, coils, and wires.... Any ideas?

Hmmmm this sucks... I adjust my idel screw a bit and still no help.. It's as if the idle just jumps around while in park. The A/fs jum from the 13's to the 16's.

Then it will die at stop or even while driving when I go into idle.... This is very frustrating.

On top of that I have some CEL's

505
113
134

WTF... i cleared them.. Let's hope they don't all come back tomorrow.

hmmm well you'd think so, but I cleared all of them last night- turned the car on and off several times and drove over 200 miles today-- not a single CEL has come back.... I'm not sure what to say. Maybe they just showed up after stuff got tossed around when the car was towed, sat for a week, and then was worked on and the ECU reset.

The good news is they haven't come back...The bad news is i'm still idling very bad and the car dies in neutral. I tried adding some timing at 500 rmp but it doesn't seem to have done anything. I also changed out the plugs- and that too has done nothing. WTF? There aren't any lose hoses or pipes and from what I can tell- all the vacuum lines are ok.

The one wierd thing I noticed tonight while at a stop light was that initially it wants to die but if I hit the gas just a tad it will pop it back up and it will just stick around 300-400 but won't die. It's just that initial stop. Also- the vacuum on my boost gauge was dancing around a bit. would go from like 20 then up to 15 then back to 20 like it just wasn't sure. What could this be? Maybe not MPI at all?

my car does that at times too...that vacuum thing that you describe(the dancing) happens at the same time too...I think its just the engine shutting down so the vacuum begins to drop, then it kicks itself back alive so the vacuum goes back to the normal measure...

I never really tried to fix it on mine, becuase I was doing constant electrical work for gauges and whatnot so the ecu was being reset almost every other day...When II get back from school and get the electrical totally finished, I'm working on gettting my tune perfect.

lean it out a bit at 0% load from 1500 rpms and below, that helped Pat's car when we did the initial tune.

hmmm. I just did it but haven't test run the car yet. This morning it stalled a lot and almost felt like it was bogging down- too rich when it stalled. It's wierd though- when I was tuning it in the garage my first two columns under load were 0% and 10% and while idling the red cell (active cell) was under the 10% column? Shouldn't it be under 0% since there is no load whatsoever?

Yeah, it should be in the first column. I don't know why it went to the 2nd column. What's your deflection at?

well ya that's where I changed the minimum to 0% (it actually stes it to .8%) and my max is 75%.... Under the settings at idle it says the load deflection is 9.0% whatever that means. I just don't see how it could be 9% when it's at idle parked in my garage.

I don't how it works, but that's how it should be. Nick told me to have the idle column at like 10-11%.

hmmm ok. I'll switch it back then and lean out that first column under 1500 rpm... What does yours look like tim?

I have 1's in the whole column, it's an 11% column. My fuel cal is 2 or 3.

s*** dude, I was looking at an old map. I looked at the computer in my car and saw the map was different than the older one I had on the laptop I use in the house. I have 4's in the idle column and a fuel cal of 1. Here's the file for you to look at.

Just an idea ... did you tap into the blue/pink wire on the O2 sensor at the manifold at all? When we installed my air/fuel gauge the car would stumble and stall at idle unless you kept your foot on the gas to keep revs up and once the gauge started to read it was ok .. we unplugged the gauge, soldered the wire back together (we had used a wire tap) and all is good now

Sounds liek a vaccum leak. I had simialr problems with mpi tuner when i had a vaccum leak.

How far is your bov from the MAF?

Hmmm...looking at your map, I may have figured out my problem. I looked at your sensor calibration, and it looks like my AMP sensor scale calibration needs to have 5.0 volts in the max value instead of 3.8!

I would also lean toward a vacuum leak since there are a few hoses that are disconnected and messed with when doing a clutch/LSD install. So I'd recheck every conceivable hose and hope that the problem lies there.
