SS Supercharged Vs Protege 2.0L

There is a thread about a MSP Vs Cobalt SS Supercharged that has alot of stuff going on in it, But in the midst of all that I went to the 8th track for some racing.

While at the track, I pulled up on a Yellow Cobalt SS Supercharged. I was curious as to how I could do against one (Expecting to lose) and Challenged him, he had no problems racing me and we got into line & raced. Surprise surprise I won. At the end of the track, the driver of the Cobalt pulled next to me requesting a rematch. I had no issues, I already beat him & Im thinking "If I did it once I can do it again" So we get right back into line for the rematch. Surprise surprise I beat him again.

Here is the Video of both races.

cool, you have a protege with a best 1/4 mile time of 15.9 and you beat an ss? ive never raced one, man they suck or he is the worlds worst driver. props to you!

Thanks..

Since you aks and are cool about it.

First thing is yeah the SS Supercharged runs in the 14's on a 1/4 mile track that is prepped, my 15.9 was on an unprepped track. On a prepped track I could see a mid 15 out of my car, arround 15.6 - 15.7. On a unprepped track the SS would be a tad slower then on a prepped track, making a high 14 to low 15.

Bring this to the 8th. The SS on a prepped track does mid 9's in the 8th. On a unprepped track I do arround 10 flat in the 8th. On a unprepped track the SS would be pulling high 9's to 10 flat. On a prepped track I could probaply hit a 9.8 to 9.9.

Put this all together and our cars are running the 8th pretty damn close, so close it becomes a drivers race.

Also factor in it was a humid night, I know alot of Turbo people complain about heat soak, I would assume that played a factor aswell, but not the deciding one, as even with heat soak, hes got more Power, and a better power to weight ratio.

It comes down to........ I out drove the guy.

I hear all the time "That guy was the worst driver" nonsence, but every week, I go to the track and come back with Videos of me beating cars I shouldnt really be beating.

I geuss everybody I race is the worst driver in the world, its funny how he drives so many different cars.

What are your mods? Nevermind I see damn I have that much done to mine and a SS would prob kill me.Every since the recall my car has been slow as hell though so im going to take the intake mani off they put on soon and put a ported one on. Protege's run what 17's stock how did you drop 2 seconds with those mods?

Damn, that sucks about the fix causing her to go slower, I hope that mani puts her back in place.

Yeah they run low 17's arround 17.2.

Most proteges with similer mods run arround 16.2.

Why am I running 15.9 @ 87mph (I ran that 3 times the last time I was at the 1/4mile track) I think is a combo of driving technique (I know I can get her out the gate faster then most & I make pretty damn quick shifts). I think my placebo wires and plugs also play a part, but who really knows.

Nice runs though.
Yeh my car use to feel so much faster I dunno whats up with it I really hope it is just the mani.

Yea...I once knew a Hawaiian guy who used to run a 68 VW Bug that ran 15's. He beat many a car in bracket racing due to his timing skills at the tree. Crazy thing....he used to drive barefoot! Great job smoking the SS Cobalt...

tsunami
thanks!
Lots of practice with her, over 100 races at the track with this car alone.

not trying to hate but are you sure it wasn't a rental basic cobalt with ss sticker on it and couple cylinders missing??? I've seen a Prius trap faster then 87mph.

Well first off rental cars are not manual so the SS is not availible, so that eliminates that (Who Mods a rental anyways, even just badges, but this would have to be Body kit/Rims/Badges ect.

Honestly, do you think a Auto would of even been that close (Rentals are all auto)? Click in my link to watch some Vids of me at the track.

Yes Im sure, I had the whole wait in line to chat with the guy about out cars, also he had a owners licence plate (I edited it out in the pic for privacy) I also have been arround cars for a while and can spot a rebadged BS'er.

He was boasting about getting a stage 2 kit for his car, that was covered by warrenty (I wish Mazda would get something like that) amoungst other things.

You must also know thhere are 2 kinds of Cobalt SS the SS and the SS Supercharged, this here was the lather.

171hp out of the 2.4 N/A in the SS

205hp out of the 2.0L Supercharged in the SS Supercharged

Beleve me I know what im talking about.

It was a Legit Kill.
