SRT Stage 2

I'am not trashing it, as a matter of fact I even thought of buying one, that is until I test drove it and didnt like it. Inside it felt like a rental. The MSP is still an ES, but an ES is better any day that a Neon SXT!

Bottom Line

Protege = Neon more or less depending on what category you want.
 
It is all a matter of opinion. . .
I like the Protege. . . looks good to me. . .
I've never liked the Neon (always thought it was ugly).

Is it fast? YES
Is it ugly? YES (in my opinion)
In which case I have to add: you can't polish a turd? No matter what they do to change the looks. . .

I'm not hating. . .same thing went for the WRX at the time I bought my MP3. It wasn't about money for me. . .I just need a car that looks cool (even if it is slow). I would get no pleasure looking at a Neon or a Sentra or a Focus. (I might have fun driving them, but I'd be ashamed when I got out. . .but again that's just me.)

As for the SRT-4. It is a cool car and the support is awesome! I'm "proud" of Mopar for a change. (But I still won't buy one!)
 
The SRT-4 is definitely badass, I test drove one before I bought the MSP. Mind-boggling straight-line performance for a $20K car, and great handling as well. But the MSP's looks, interior quality, even better handling, and Japanese reliability record sold me.

It IS a shame that Mazda doesn't have the same support as Mopar.

I've been using it for years to describe hondas.
 
Well I have to respect Chrysler's commitment.
Damn that is impressive supprt. I still don't care for the car
but I feel like a mistreated stepchild now :p
I wish we could at least get a tune-able ECU :(
 
Most mopar parts will void out you factory warranty... (I believe you can purchase a warranty though) BTW I used to sell those too...

I guess a lot of it is at the dealer's discretion. When I purchased my Dodge Truck, I was talking to the service manager. He said they allow all Mopar mods regardless of the disclaimers and will honor the full manufacturer's warranty.
 
All i got's to say..Is that Mazda ******* blows Big Monkey Nuts..If they only knew how big their market would get if they put out some parts like dodge is doing!

I love that switch for 100 octance fuel!

there are different ways they could get more power from higher octane, basically they're just pushing the motor more, how they do it is up to them and we could only guess

it could advance the timing, run more lean, or run more boost. i would guess the wastegate is controlled by a module at least as most springs for wastegates aren't that high, e.g. a dsm runs ~13psi of boost stock, but the wastegate spring is 7psi. you can't really control boost though with what they use (the boost control solenoid), but it is very possible that the srt is computer controlled, especially considering there are user selectable boost settings on the stage 2 as well. i would guess it advances the timing a bit and leans it out some, but that's just a guess.
 
Yeah I know about high octane gas...but im wondering if there like a seperate tank so you can switch between diffrent octane ratings. Or is it just a switch to add octane booster to the gas tanks, which is lame (IMO)....I'm confused. Or maybe im a idiot.
 
um yea ok... the MSP is just a protege with turbo then SRT-4 is a neon with BUILT motor and a turbo. i want a SRT-4 cuz it seams like all the mazda people talk s*** about EVERY outher car execpt there p5 or MSP or mp3 or rx. the mazda crew is starting to remind me why i left the honda crew. too much s*** talking and not enuff apreastion for outher cars.
