SRT4 drivers are cocky!!

REASON WHY??
1.)Because they can hang with a Evo 8 or STi from a roll Stock vs Stock
2.)Because they put down big #'s
3.)They can run with about almost everything Modded
4.)The different colors is which makes one another faster, ORANGE being the fastest.

We were at the Airstrip and my Friend in his 95EG coupe LS/VTEC pretty modded ran a 04 WRX with TBE and Bov from a 20mph roll and my friend beat him by about 3-4car's. So this guy in a Stock Red SRT4 comes up and say's Lets race i'm going to smoke you"with a cocky attitude. Well me and my other friend were in his VR4 and since he was cocky we told him we will run him. So he say's Whatever i'll run you two! I laughed and giggled alittle.

We line up about 3cars back and decided to embarress him. By the time we take off and midway through second gear we are slingshot flying past him and held about 3car's on him till about 100-105mph right around where a 99 Stock VR4 run's. He comes back and say's "ur pretty fast but not that fast" all cocky. I told my friend this M0therF34er is cocky as f3cK after the fact he just lost by a total of 6car's.

Anyways later that night my friend in the EG deciced to run him from a roll and got him by about 1- 1 1/2cars.

I know 2 people here with SRT4s, one works with me and is a cool guy. He is a little bit, er, overzealous about his car, and all Dogde products, but still cool.

He's also the first to admit that even though he spent enough on the car to run a 330hp dyno, the car will not handle, and any speed. When we cruise them, a corner I take at 100km/h, he's down at like 40-50.

Every car has it's ups and downs. Sure an srt can beat me in a 0-60, but how many do you see at an autocross event?

Any car can be humbled in the right scenario, we just have to accept that no car is a super car that can best everything else.

Not starting anything at all, but I see alot more mazda 6's in autocross events than i do the ms3...case in point the speed touring challenges..Randy Pobst can run the wheels off any car(drive2)! Also there are 2-3 srt neon running in that same class with no factory support (directly) and there are no ms3 yet in that class.

Thats because the 3/MS3 is a big chubby car that would most likely body roll into the pylons :p

If you want handling, pick up a Protege!

If the protege handles so well then why are they not running that? Unless Mazda is only allowing them to run the 6's then that I understand. (marketing)

Well how long have the 6 been out? Any sixes that are out there are more than likely modded suspension wise. I had a 6 and there's no comparison, my ms3 will murder it in the corners.

Thats exactly why Tripoint uses the 6's. Its all about marketing. How would mazda gain any sales if they ran cars that they don't even sell anymore?

If you want some more information about why the 6's are run instead of the MS3 or MS6 read this:

+1 only wish I still had mine "snif" Well, figured I'd throw in my .02... Own an 05 SRT4 ACR, for 'round 20k (which is what i was willing to spend when the 85 yr old lady pulled out in front of me and totalled my 02 Prot ES, the SRT was indeed the "best bang for the buck" as has been so often over-stated.

I love the drivetrain aspect of it, but those who have mentioned the poor handling are absolutely correct! - I've spent many hours (and $$) trying to get it "acceptable," however it still handles like a drunken pig in the back of an 18 wheeler. - it will make you look for a new diaper if you happen to hit a bump or rise in a corner @ speed.

So, having experienced the "comfort" of the Prot, I'm sure the MS3 handles MUCH better, & am actually considering getting one. - if we ever get one close enough to test drive. (none w/in 150mi's)

As for the whole "who's a dick, prick, donkey-trick, whatever..." - well, we have our share here in town too... but most are lil kids w/ mommy's $$ and NO experience driving; (no matter what the make is) much less w/ any actual power behind them.

Much respect to Mazda and their R&D team(s)... from what I've seen over the past 5 years or so, they are def on the right track. - not so sure about Dodge... c'mon, the Caliber?

Some people need to ease up on the hate.

I owned an SRT-4 before I bought the MS3. They are great cars... performance for dollar wise. And not just HP/straight line. They handle and stop great as well. Yes, they have slow interiors... so what?

I still have a hard time believing how nice of a car it was, and how good it's performance was, for a car I bought for $20,000. And for what I got for the price, I didn't care that the interior was plasticky. It had NO rattles after nearly two years, whereas my Mazda has several rattles after only a few months.

Too many people hate on them that have never driven one... and that is part of why many SRT owners are dicks. Because they get randomly hated on by all kinds of people for 'driving a Neon'.

They are probably one of the best performance bargains ever sold... and they are not horribly unreliable either. I know of two people pushing over 100k miles on theirs, one making over 400 whp, who don't have any more problems that I'd expect from any other car at 100k miles... usually just maintance stuff or the occasional broken half shaft from that 400 whp (rockon)

And by the way, SRT-4 seats > than MS3 seats (hump)

So why'd you get rid of it? I've only taken my ms3 to the dealer for the recall, that's it. 20k miles and no issues.

I didn't get rid of it. It was murdered by a 16 year old who turned left in front of me with less than two car lengths between us. I was at about 35mph, no time to evade. She was in a newer Toyota Highlander, I hit her dead on the drivers side front and rear doors. No one was hurt, except for me with a bruised shoulder from the seatbelt and a puffy lip from the airbag. The impact pushed my sunroof open a little bit and forced my exhaust tips out almost an inch, all the cooling system was crushed the engine was at an angle and the driver side front suspension was torn up. I had a bit of a fight with the insurance companies over totaling it or repairing it. The damage was severe, I was not interested in a cobbled together shell of what was once a very well cared for machine. At the end of the day, they paid me out almost $19,000 for a two year old car with a fair amount of mileage that I originally paid just over 21k for.

I am not trying to dog the MS3, the SRT 4 had problems in it's first year. Some of us have never had a problem with our MS3. Others wonder what's next. I guess I was a little nostalgic for an old friend that I did not get to say goodbye to.

Damn cosmic, sorry to hear that. I totaled a camry with 450 miles on it from a chick running a red light (been red for 5 sec), I understand what you mean about no time for evade. Good thing it was a rental car. For all the haters I've seen in this thread, I'm happy to see even more people talking SENSE. We drive what we like, or what we can afford (I own a hyundai accent, you could bracket race me in nothing but the shoes on your feet!), and we all make the choices we make for a reason. Drivers a dick? Ignore him/her, not worth the ticket, or worse. Keep safe, have fun, and enjoy the ride.

My other car is a Hyundai... My wife drives a 2002 Accent. First new car we ever bought. It's at 93,000 and keeps chugging. We just had the tranny replaced under warranty, with absolutely no problems from the dealer. That has been the only problem. I didn't want a Hyundai when we got it, but it was the best value for us at the time. Now I would buy another Hyundai without hesitation. That car has been a day to day driver in SoCal traffic, back and forth across the country numerous times in summer, it is a capable snow driver here in Idaho, and it has been paid off for years. If you shop around and do your homework, there is a good deal out there from every maker for every price range. I have no brand loyalty or assumptions. I would have much rather have had a new Z06 Vette, but I love my MS3 for what it is.

I totaled my SRT4 so I'm looking to get a MS3 soon. There are pricks driving all kinds of cars not just the SRT4. I loved the car but looking forward to the more refined MS3.

I met a cool guy tonight in a srt4. first i walked away from one, from a roll then from a dig. met up after and found out he had full exhaust, cai and other mods. the guy was like is that a speed3,when i told him he was like that car is fast. he was a good guy all in all

Is your MS3 stock? If so, I am going to have to cry BS! A moderatedly modded SRT-4 should not get walked by a MS3.... unless we are just going to chalk it up to a "driver" issue again. No one can argue against that defense.

CAI, Full exhaust and "other mods"? It only takes about $800 to have an SRT4 in the mid 13's. I also have to ask if your stock?

i dont like st4 owner they think they all that i had that problem 4 weeks ago they all try to screw with me and i was on phone driving
i was in my ss chevy truck it looks stock (i got pissed at them and runned up their ass it was funny cuz they didnt know i had 500hp underhood haha i miss that truck now)

Im glad that i wasnt considered an ass or prick altough i had a pt cruiser turbo but it still had the same motor and trans as the srt 4 i took all the badging off of the car so it just said pt cruiser other than my 3" exhaust you would have thought it was just a pt..Until i ran it then you could hear the turbo spool up due to the intake then the bov would hiss...it had the sleeper look to it and thats what i was after then hondas, stangs etc was lunch for me...it was mildly modded stage1, 3" tru-bendz exhaust, intake etc so it was fun to mess with people im my lil pt...she was my bruiser till i totaled it i hit a pole ! but all around quick car loved it

Hey vlrussian, How fast was that SS? You see, they come stock with 390HP and run what? High 14's? I would race ya.................
