those were the days :)

ha....at first I thought I actually typed that by accident..Some still do man, but most have upgraded to larger SUVs...Less cramped and higher in the air so it doesn't turn into a peep show as quickly:D ...

Douggie- I have NEVER owned an American car. I was SO scared to get one. I had to take a chance though. I am VERY happy with my car, even though it only has 2k on it I have had no problems. I still miss my MSP:(.

Yeah, I'd suppose it's hard to tell when you have only 2K miles on the car. I've NEVER had an american car as well, that's why I asked you about it :)

So what mods have you done to it so far?

Well, do come back here once in a while (i'm sure u will be spending more time in the srtforums now) and let us know any updates/mods on your SRT-4 :)

Well I have no mods as of yet, but the car went 13.81@100.26 with only 600 miles on it. I love the car, and im sold on dodge, they are the only american car I would ever own. I am trying to talk my dad into a Hemi ram, but havent got there yet:D:D.

But sounds good Loj68...You see what I mean now...I would be much more comfortable at 140mph in an M3 than in a SRT-4, that is what I was referring to...And IMO the car is not far enough upgraded from a standard economy car to handle those speeds...Your opinion is different and that is fine...and you own one and I don't, so it really does not matter what my opinion on it is...The car is hellishly fast so overall just be careful...And you are also correct with some of the younger owners who drive them, they are most of the problem...

For loj68 and AZSpeed:

How do you like the SRT-4? Any issues with reliabilty? It's a general (mis)conception that Japanese cars tend to be a bit more reliable than American. Just wanted to get some opinions on the car, nothing else :)

The SRT-4 does give some serious hp per buck :D

Well I must be honest......my MSP has been back to the dealer for 4 different things and my SRT has only been back for what has turned out to be a s**** tire.

I don't think it's really a misconception that Japanese cars are more reliable.....I think that's pretty much a fact. If it weren't for the fact that I buy a new car every 1-2 years I would have never considered the SRT. I'm pretty much a Japanese car guy with taste for German exotics that are out of my price range (for now......come on GT3!!!)

Thanks. Haha, yep, I love japanese cars. But for me, an Audi S4 would be more than enuff if I want a German car. I'd rather buy a nice house than spend $100K on a GT3 :)

Anyway, it seems that there are more accidents with the SRT-4 or just that more people report their accidents in the forums. Here's another one:

It's not gonna be good for car insurance rates...

I dont' like the look of those pictures. The passenager compartment didn't stay intact, lots of area where it's caved in. So if it was any person who is larger or smaller than average size, there could of been major injuries. That's scary and that picture alone would make me reconsider buying a SRT4.

she was probably going really fast when she crashed that thing too

say if she was going 100mph and she flips that would launch the car pretty high into the air, I dont think any car would come out looking much better

Wow. Big difference. Well, these are 2 different crashes (and we have no details of the accident), so it's hard to say which car did a better job in protecting the passenger. The SRT-4 could have been travelling at a much faster speed and hit hard.

Jesus christ, the girl was going at an insane amount of speed then rolled the car. It doesnt matter what kind of car it is it would look like s***. SO MANY variables take place when a car rolls, you cant compare two. Its like comparing apples and oranges.

^im not trying to stick up for one car or another, but s***, I HATE all the comparing that goes on.

That's seriously nasty tho. It's amazing she made it out.

A bit off topic:

I wonder how one of these would do in a roll over at 100mph

The new R4-million McLaren Mercedes Benz SLR, brought from Germany to Cape Town for an official launch, was hit by a VW Golf while being test driven in the city on Tuesday.

According to witnesses cited by the Cape Times, the Golf "sped through a red light" and hit the SLR, a left-hand drive, on the front right-hand side.

The Cape Times reports the 1700kg SLR, which is made of immensely strong carbon fibre and has intelligent crumple zones, sustained minimal damage. The Golf had to be towed away.

Eight SLRs are in Cape Town for the press launch at the V&A Waterfronts Cape Grace Hotel on Wednesday. Around 140 international motoring journalists have been test driving the vehicle in the city, according to the daily.

The SLR, with a top speed of 334 kilometres per hour, has a supercharged Mercedez-enz AMG 5.5-litre V8, and takes 3.8 seconds to accelerate to 100 kilometres per hour.
