sr20det in a p5

Having turbo'd a B15 before I bought the MSP I would highly suggest not picking a b15 chasis to build. They are the most complicated b.c they have the new roller rocker engines and even though stuff boltsup they are harder to tune. I had an SAFC for tuning and it was ok but everything is more complicated in a b15. Most of the turbo B15's I know out there switched the entire wiring harness out with a b14 so that they could use the JWT ECU's and what not..Also its not easy to do drop in of a bluebird/avanier engine b.c of the difference in wiring and other little things.. I am just speaking from experience about the platform... It can be done but it is not the easiest..

B13 Sentra's with the bluebird are money in the bank.

haha dude, i have seen that car on the track...

He offered to drag me @ carlsbad for cash... I said no way, turns out he was friends with peter (notorious). I think he ran a 12.00 something and he melted a spark plug half way down the track after spiking 30psi because his mbc was broke?

Peter you remember that? haha

But yes, that is an sr20, i have seen it, on the track, it is real life.
ahh, memories.

accidentally hit my HKS EVC IV shifting into fourth (its in the center console below my elbow and the knob was up) and ran up 30 psi on a stock bottom end. i melted a plug and put a nice hole in #4, you can see the con rod through the hole. the piston skirt stayed intact, so at least i didnt put a speed hole through the block.

car put down 462whp pete, jeez, get it right, RICER! :D

i hit a 12.2@129.8 on street tires the weekend carlsbad closed. ran ~22psi that run, i think i can bust out an upper 11 on street tires at that boost if i can string a 1.9 60' and a clean run together (2.1 60' that run). looks like i will have to run it at battle in pomona next year to see how far it will go.

the car likes to smoke the tires in 5th now. what a slow piece of s***... anyone want to run for money? :D

462 whp, whats another 8.

i owned a 99 sentra sel (4 dr) with a JDM Redtop SR20DET swap in it. pulled hard as s***. that motor is so over-built it's ridiculous. the stock crank will hold 500hp. and the rods are 3 times thicker than they need to be for the N/A version of the motor. the sr20 is by far one of nissans best. i paid about 1500 for the motor (had 32000 miles on it) from a friend who smashed the rear of his silvia conversion on a guardrail. took about another 1500 bucks in labor and parts before everything was tip top. last dyno i did before selling it was around 315whp. a little more than 100 more hp than a stock sr20det. was a fast ass sentra. but i would agree that it would easier to build the FS than to saw** an sr20 into it.

you can put the SR20DET in anything..my boy has the bluebird in his 91 sentra SE-R. (T25) Hell while we're at it..**** the SR20DET and its oil pressure problems...go RB25DET or go home!

yea, the reason i swapped the engine in the first place was because most of the seals in the engine are silicone. my timing chain cover gasket blew and so did two o-rings on the block. a few other things ended up fukt from all the heat and hot oil. ended up at a gas station with a HUGE puddle of oil under it. had it towed and then found that my shop was gonna charge me 1000 but fix the seals because of how long it would take to fix it. somethin like 10 hours of labor plus parts. so i said **** it and started lookin for a motor. i knew about it cuz my bud had an s14 silvia conversion with a redtop. he got wrecked, i got the motor cheap and the rest is history.

i am sorry, but i am forced to call extreme bulls*** on this one...

first, a RWD SR20 would never, ever fit in a FWD chassis, unless you cut a hole down the center for the rear axle and made it RWD... the bellhousing won't even come close to matching. the intake manifold would terminate in the wrong direction and put the TB in the shock tower (would the IC piping go through it?). the motor mounts are completely wrong. the accessories would never clear the frame rail. the turbo would be facing the frame rail and the downpipe would interfere with the transmission.

second, if that was the stock turbo, no way in hell it would make 315whp. the sonic boom that would happen from the 300,000 rpms the turbine shaft would need to turn to make that kind of power would shatter the compressor housing. the compressor for that T25 flows a max of ~25-28lbs/min. this would translate into 250-280whp, not 315whp.

liar.

Was he referring to the bluebird motor?...doesn't appear to be..The RWD SR20DET redtop would never fit into a sentra...ever. Even if you were u sing the bluebird motor, your HP ratings are a little generous..when I say a little, I mean a huge amount. So to reiterate..No motor from a 240/Silvia is going into a sentra..That's just the way it is.

okay, before my reputation is completely shot and everyone kicks me in face for being a liar, let me say that i have a ricer roommate that also owns a mazda. a white 1996 protege with lots of stickers and a fart can. the car is so out of tune that there is a thick black aura going up the bumper and on to the trunk. he often posts on here as me. he doesn't have a computer so using my acct is how he deals with that.

in response to what he had to say i must just laugh. i indeed know that a redtop from a 240 will not fit into a b14. the possibility has been pondered but i haven't heard of anyone actually putting in the time and effort needed to do so. not really sure i would want to chop up that much of my car to make it fit anyway. i did however own a 99sel with a bluebird motor. in true ricer fashion a 96se-r (not a 240 with an s13 conversion) with a custom widebody kit really looks like a silvia conversion. especially when silvia tail lights are molded into the trunk. personally i thought it was stupid because he had to weld the trunk shut and only had access thru the back seats. dumbass idea if you ask me. imo car was waaaay too short to ever look like a silvia but whatever.

as for the HP numbers those are correct. the turbo was not stock. it was a garret T3/T04E with a .60 and .82, tial 40mm, JWT ECU, pop charger, and s4 cams, apexi safc, custom 3" exhaust jet-coated all the way back too the apexi n1, jet-coated header, 770cc injectors and a walbro fuel pump, spearco fmic with a greddy type s bov, g20 tranny with lsd, 9lb flywheel from nopionline, RAM clutch. i'm sure i'm leaving out some info but you get the idea.

i hope i have cleared up any confusions about this. i don't think i'll be letting my roommate post here anymore. i didn't even know he had done it until i got my email tonight and saw that i looked like a total ASSHOLE. anyways, i've totally ****** over this thread so i'm sorry to those who were genuinely interested in it. and as far as my 2 cents on the swap to a p5...with the right amount of money you can do anything but i dont' think it would be economical to do that. you could better spend your money on a built fs or a totally different car. i wouldn't do it anyway.

***edited to add: the prices aren't correct up there either. i did pay 1500 for the motor but i ended up spending about another 2500 more to get it where it was when i sold it.

Yeah, except I was right and you were wrong.

So dumbass, still want to talk about that BPT motor with a sr20 valve cover?

Dude it was a ******* joke, I was standing there when he posted it. So shut the **** up you screaming n00b. (boom02)

He also knows more about nissans than you could ever dream to.

I don't claim to be the authority on nissans, and lets not like act like you are either. Besides this guy started talking s*** first, doesnt matter if you were standing right there or not.

Wow congratulations, you win the "biggest jackass" award. Learn how to take a joke. He didn't start talking s***. It was a joke, and you need to seriously loosen up. Also, me being there had a part in it since I laughed at it when he posted it. I'm pretty sure he can tell the difference between a bluebird and a BPT..you know, because he see's them both quite frequently. So spare your hurt feelings and get a helmet you whiney little girl.

******* clue into reality for a moment. If someone out of the blue posted s*** like that you would take offense, so get off your pedastal. I call it how I see it, even if I may look like a jackass to you. So either cry me a river or stop acting like a b****.

Acting like a b****? Look at his sig..I think he might know the difference. A "are you serious?" comment would of worked better instead of flaming someone. Why don't you get off your "I own an MSP so I'll flame everyone" soap box at blow me. Get over yourself for about 2 seconds. I think there are some reposts and "where can I find an intake" threads you should be trolling anyway. Get bent. <3spicy

Dude I have no idea what the **** you are talking about. Ownership of a car has no bearing on a persons mentality. I guess since I have a lexus I'm a snob and because I have a del slow I'm a chick? Whatever helps you sleep at night.
