Squeak Squeak; Help :(

There is a squeaking coming from seemingly inside the transmission whenever I depress/release the clutch. (this happens when the car is both on and off).

I did a search on google about this, and it brought me to a honda civic forums where a few people were having a problem with a bushing, but there wasn't much detail..

Anyone ever have this problem? Any idea of what could have caused it? And how to I fix it :(

Also.... so when you press on the gas, you inside the car move backward. When your moving and stop, you move forward, then backwards.

Well when I come to a stop and the car continues to move forward for that brief moment, I hear a squeak. It sounds like someone squeaking their shoes on a floor. However, it is not as loud and it is sort of a dull squeak. It is NOT when I press on the breaks, but when the car moves forward and backward suddenly. I tried jumping up and down on the car, and no noise. Then I tried pushing the car forward in short bursts and I heard the noise.

Whats wrong, why, and how do I fix it :(
I don't know what to check or what to look for, so let me know and I'll report back to you guys to better try and diagnose it.

I have a squeaky clutch pedal. It can be the pedal iitself, or the slave cylinder, or other things depending on the car and setup. I can hear the squeak outside my car, so its not the pedal itself.

The other noise could be brakes or suspension. When the car rocks back it could be making a spring squeak in the perch, the sway bar squeak in the bushings, or any one of a lot of other things.

The squeak isn't coming from inside the car (not from the peddle itself).

Wheres the slave cylinder and what could I do to it?

Where is the timing belt located?
The belts visible on the passenger side of the engine look fine and no noise coming from them...what are they called?

if some part of the suspension is squeaking, is that a sign that something is worn? Like...is it something gone wrong or is it just something I can live with? If I don't do anything about it will it possible cause harm to something on my car?

This may shed some light on the issue:

LOL, I bet that will shed some light... Sweet bad links from guys with 1 post.

Ok, back on topic.
Clutch pedals sometime squeak, probly not a big deal. As long as it engages properly and isn't slipping or feeling like your hitting empty spots/getting stuck (usually from air in the lines/not being bled properly) then it should be fine.

I'm not totally sure what you mean with all that moving forward and backward when you stop. lol But, if you have a sway bar, it definitely sounds like your bushings need to be either greased (use white lithium grease) or replaced. If you don't have a sway bar, I would think struts, but you said you "jumped" on your car and heard no squeaks so I'm not sure. You positive the brakes aren't squeaking ever so slightly?

Sounds like swaybar bushings, for the one squeak.

The other inside the trans when the PEDAL is depressed is the throwout bearing, or clutch fork. Is the clutch hard to depress? You probably have a throwout bearing going bad.

No the clutch is not hard to depress/press.

Although I do have a 2002 (not 2002.5), and I know my model car has a 'weaker' clutch fork...

So this is a throwout bearing gone bad? How hard is that to replace?

Sounds like it. You have to remove the trans....It's not that hard, I've had the trans out of mine before.

I'd try and lube the other stuff first though, before ripping into the trans.

Sounds like it might be a throwout bearing, I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you develop problems shifting.

Minor squeaks abound on this car.

I HAD THIS PROBLEM TODAY I HAVE A SHORT INTAKE AND NOT A STOCK ONE( I SAY THIS BECAUSE THE STOCK ONE DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO SEE THE CLUTCH ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE, IT IS RIGHT UNDER WHERE THE INTAKE IS) I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS COMING FROM THE PEDAL AREA SO I SPRAYED THE WD-40 AND NO LUCK, THEN I HAD A FRIEND PRESS THE CLUTCH WHILE I WAS LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE WHAT MOVED AND WHEN I SAY IT I SPRAYED WD-40 AND THE NOICE WENT AWAY. HOPE U GOT THE SAME PROBLEM(thumb)

Caps lock = cruise control for cool, so I hear.

You said
"There is a squeaking coming from seemingly inside the transmission whenever I depress/release the clutch. (this happens when the car is both on and off)."

When you say it happens with car on or off, does "off" mean engine off?

If the engine is off the belts are not moving so they would not be the problem. The throw-out bearing isn't turning with the engine off, so it probably isn't the throw-out bearing. You said the problem isn't coming from inside the car.

The clutch slave cylinder push rod where it contacts the release fork is a metal to metal contact, at the factory it was lubed with molybdenum sulfide grease, if the grease has dried out that could be causing the squeak. The clutch release fork pivots inside the trans-axle housing housing and has several lube points, if dry that could a squeak. It's not something that will do serious harm, but squeaks do usually mean something is wearing more than normal. The slave cylinder push rod to clutch release fork pivot point is easy to lube. The fork inside requires some major dis-assembly to lube, I would probably wait until clutch change time to lube the fork.

Regarding the squeaks you mentioned when moving, it sounds like it may be your brakes, probably not harmful if it only happens with slight movement forward or back from a stop.

Oldish thread, but for those searching: Mine gets a squeek from the piston that moves the lever thingy on the gearbox. Starts to get stiff and noisy every few thousand kms. LPS2 or similar lube fixes it for a while. Just pull back the rubber boot and spray it in there.

What rubber boot are you speaking of?
Could you take a picture of it?
