Sputter / Fuel Cut - Check This First

Mods - Please Sticky as people with any type of sputter needs to check this first before they try other things. Specially those with minimal mods that get this sputter as I can pretty much guarantee its their issue.

The problem is the Turbo Inlet Hose connection. Check it to ensure the clamp is properly tight. I have been getting sputter from time to time and then really bad when I installed the MBC and turned up the boost. Today I checked my Inlet Clamp and to my surprise it was so lose I was able to do about 20 turns before it felt tight.

The Inlet Connections all need to be checked and ensure they are tight. To get to it you will need to remove the TMIC reach behind with a socket to tighten the connection.

After I tightened mine I took her for a spin. No Sputter at all in 3rd anymore and it pulled all the way to redline!!!!!!

I did get some sputter in 4th but in my case that is Fuel cut as my HI FLOW PSI dropped to 900PSI. However those with minimal mods and no MBC/SB should NOT be getting sputter and I would bet the reason you are is due to the Inlet Connection being lose.

To me this should be the very first thing you check if you think your car is sputtering or not pulling as hard as you would like. My turbo spools much quicker now and I swear I can pull all the way to redline without feeling like the car just dies HP wise.

I hope this helps.

great and thank you! I'd also look into driver311's fix, quoted here:

I decided to put it all in one thread. After alot of time and work I think I have this figured out. Here it is simple as I can put it.

Boost cut fix= map clamp, clamped at 3-3.5v

Fuel cut fix= cdfp, either pg, cpe

spark sputter fix= one step colder plug gapped at .030 and coil wire stretch.

My car has zero issues with any kind of cut/sputter right now and is pulling all the way to 6500rpms. Temps where I live is around 10-30 degrees and Im running 20+psi all day long. I hope this will help alot of people better understand what issues we are having with the car and how to fix them. Enjoy

What would be some things to monitor via dashhawk to tell which fix you would need? Any other ways to decipher between them?

I don't personally have any problems (minus the occasional sputter), but I figured that if someone knew, it would be good info for everyone to see.

Well for fuel I would check your HIFP Pid to monitor your Fuel PSI. Other than that, if you get sputter I would check your Intake Connection on the Turbo first. Specially if you have no mod that increases your boost.

Makes me wonder if something like these (see T-Bolt Hose Clamps in attachment) would be worth getting. Anyone know the sizes needed to replace all the boost related clamps?
