HA when I worked for Acura there would be atleast 3 a week in for new transmissions. I got really good at them.
ahhhhh...was there a specific car that it usually happened to? (bang)
mazda does not just send something that big by mistake... sending wrong s*** does happen don't get me wrong, but I really think this is the dealer's fault and not mazda's.... you can blame the dumbass parts guys in their parts department for ordering the wrong motor... if they used the VIN, they would've got it right the first time!Update: Mazda sent my dealer the regular 2.3, not the mzr turbo LOL. He is getting the whole engine, not just the shortblock. The car spun a bearing causing the piston to go wacko, which in turn hit and bent a valve. Lots of scoring on cylinder wall apparently.
what TSB? tell me what the TSB number is... I've yet to see it and I do look at american and canadian TSBs every week^agree with you,, the manager told me that mazda sent him a tsb that the cam pulley get stuck and that can cause the valves to hit the pistons so it is not recomended to put syntetic oil in this engines too
why is it not recommended not to use synth oil on this engine?
Complete BS. A TSB like this would have spread like wildfire through the community. We have members who are Mazda mechanics and friends of Mazda mechanics who would not keep this a secret. If it's a real TSB, he can show you a copy. As far as I know Mazda doesn't recommend synth b/c it doesn't work well in rotary engines, causing smoking or some such. Why Mazda's piston engines would be the only modern engines that don't work much better with synth is a complete mystery to me.
these motors are expensive and still being new, they're not readily availableUpdate 2: Mazda cannot find a 2.3 MZR motor for my poor old dad! They are on backorder. . . ?
these motors are expensive and still being new, they're not readily available
if your dealer's parts department knows what they are doing, then they should be 1) placing the motor on an overnight "CSO" order, and 2) upgrading the CSO order status to a hotline order in order to get the motor on the next air freight shipment
the engine may have been superceded to a new part number, but more than likely what he was trying to tell you was that your new engine has a new engine number as part numbers are irrelevant information to customersyes, that's right, this is my very first post,, why??,, I have the very same problem as described in the first post,, my speed3 blew the engine two weeks ago,, why??,, that's the question everybody keep asking me,, my speed has 1,987 miles in the odo and is bone stock too, date of purchase?? 21 of dec.. 2007, the manager of the shop ask me if the engine took a little drink of water while I was running , and I tell him not,, because that's the only way the engine could bend two rods the #1 and #4,, I was running at 60mph when I hit the brakes a little to reduce the speed because I saw a bump in the highway, then just push a little the gas when this sound came to my ears, boom pssst after that a little knock coming from the engine ,, for me the noise looks like a lifter or tappet what ever you name it, click , click, click, and a big vibration on the pedal clutch with just showing my foot to the pedal,, well to make the story short,, and for your info,, the dealer shop order me a new engine,, the manager told me that the new engine have a new part number ,, when this happen,, the oem part had been redisigned or the manufacturer have change,, lets hope is a redisigned engine![]()
actually lemon law doesn't work like that. if the part isn't available there is nothing anyone can do. But I bet if I called our guy at Mazda I could have an engine here in 2 days no problem atleast that is how the last 5 we ordered went. Oh and the Mazdaspeed cars have their own menus on the mazda parts program so ordering the wrong one is pretty damn hard to do but it does happen. Honestly it is the techs responsibility to make sure the correct parts are ordered. And they are expensive to the customer to the right people they are cheap![]()
I just can't understand why Mazda and its dealers have to be such assholes when it comes to warranty, specially in a stock car. I believe its in their best interest to take care of their customers in order to do more services and sell more cars in the future.

Ultimately it's those few bad apples that ruin it for the rest of us. This goes for Mazda as well as other manufacturers
