Mmmm, Audi. That's all I'll say.
Black Majik MSP said:WOW, I have all kinds of replies to make...here goes:
I've checked before & the best stock time for an STi I've seen is 12.9 & the average time for good drivers is 13.2. Your friend obviously can't drive, but I know of STi & Stage III WRX owners who are just as bad.
Wrong, enter the RS3 (see attached pic)
S4s DO NOT run mid 11s with a grand in mods...for $1000, you'd probably only be able to get exhaust. Parts for the S4 are $$, probably some of the most expensive mods other than BMW.
And for my own comment...even though he got pwned, I love the sound of the STi's programmable shift beep (it's even more fun if you actually get to ride in one).![]()
SpicyMchaggis said:Um..You can get a preowned B5 S4 for less than you pay for a new STi..where do you guys get this is ******* insane information? A new S4 isn't even close to the price range of the STi..but who buys a new S4 to go out and race it like a fucktard for bragging rights. You can even go look at URS4's and those ******* haul..not as sexy as the newer audi's, haul monster ass. Cheap(er) audi's to hook up are 5 Cylinder 20V turbo swaps into sedans (80-90's) OR 4.2L V8 swaps into B5 sedans or even into 80-90s and coupe's.
Like I said (& you further proved with your post), $1000 in mods on an S4 DOES NOT = mid 11s. (hand)SpicyMchaggis said:Haha..wrong buddy..i spent a couple days running around waterfest talking to dahlback, APR, and KTR performance..the APR stage 1 S4 runs a 12.2..thats an 800$ upgrade...so, just keep digging. Realistically, a B5 S4 with an APR stage II/III system will run mid 11's..thats a kit though..Any idiot can spend 2-3k for the K04R upgrade and a good piggyback and run mid-high 11's..
I don't know where on Earth you're getting your #s from, but the A4 3.0 WITH Quattro is the same price as an STi. The A4 1.8T Quattro is $10k less. The APR Stage III is only $5k & will easily allow you to beat an STi.YelPro03 said:Wow, do you really expect the RS3, which is not even available yet, to be in the price range as the STi? Not a chance. For what you'd pay for an STi, you can't get better than an A4 putting out about 220 HP, and I'm not even talking Quattro. What do you get with an STi? Are we still comparing apples with apples or do we have a fruit cocktail?
Look at what you keep saying: 1-2k...that's a $1000 range. I said it won't run mid 11s with $1000 in mods & I stand by that claim (I didn't say ABOUT $1000 or maybe $2000).SpicyMchaggis said:Care to make a friendly wager on that? I think you grossly underestimate the B5 S4. There were tearing them up at waterfest.. An APR customer car was running 11.8's with only 1-2k in it..and it was all engine management. So what, i'm not trying to bark down on people about audi's..I don't own one..I'm just clearing up all the ******* bulls*** that people actually know about audi's..which around these parts, is almost none..so chill out.
Ah no. the STi is $32,195Black Majik MSP said:I don't know where on Earth you're getting your #s from, but the A4 3.0 WITH Quattro is the same price as an STi. The A4 1.8T Quattro is $10k less.
The STi is an awesome car too. My friend has one & he was going to mod the hell out of it like his old car, but now he tells me he lost interest in cars. I don't get it, but then again, he's not even 18 yet. (scratch)1sty said:The STi has a major stumbling block out of the gate, its ECU. With that out of the way or atleast tamed either by Vishnu Turboxs or Cobb (all for under $1K) the STi can start to make some real power. A kit with computer and exhuast are around $2200 that have been gaining up to 80+ hp. The downside is the car without a cat can easily over boost on some people. The next hurdle is that the turbo starts to loose juice as do some of the rest of the system.
It comes down to that the STi just hasn't been tested and experimented much yet in this country. Bare in mind this is a new engine with a new code so its gonna take time to really nail everything down. The real SUCK thing is that Subabru brought out so many new models that the tuners like CObb and Vishnu are spending all their time on R&D and not able to ship their products even though they list them for sale.
Screw the Audi website, look at Edmunds & check the invoice price. I'm sure you know that nearly every STi owner gets some kind of options too.1sty said:Ah no. the STi is $32,195

From audi's website, the quatro A4 is only ~$4,000 less not $10K
The audi A4 3.0 quatro is closer but still $1200 more then the STi

Actualy the only option I see STi owners getting it either the radio optio or the wheels.Black Majik MSP said:Screw the Audi website, look at Edmunds & check the invoice price. I'm sure you know that nearly every STi owner gets some kind of options too.
