Spool Turbo bugs? (56K beware)

Hey. As you all know, I got my spool kit in last week...there were a few shortcomings on it, most of which Terry sent replacement parts to fix, but I figured I'd post some pics of what I got here...

First up is the manifold. I noticed that no matter what flat surface I put it on, it kind of likes to rock back and forth a bit long ways...

There's another issue where the dumptube from the wastegate hits the center housing on the turbo. Terry sent me a replacement from my original that has a more obtuse angle, but it still doesn't quite cut it...

Man that mani looks #$%^&* AWESOME

I wonder if that could be a problem! It may fit ok when bolted on the engine.

Can you take a pic of the whole manifold? Im still waiting for mine to start the install!!!!!!!!!

Keep updated.

I had a problem with the dump tube on mine
First I got one for the stage 2 manifold
He sent me another but It would go right through the middle of the downpipe. I ended up cutting off a little of the tube from the stage 2 kit and having a exhaust shop weld an extention on it that dumps out right at the ground.

And I'm not complaining so people dont hate. I understand you cant expect a perfect install with stuff like this.

That main is no good .

I would not put that on you car...
It will crack in time and will be a big pain later.
Have them send you another one....
And make sure it is true.
That is a poor job....

Here's the original wastegate dump tube he sent me versus the newer one, so you can see the difference. I need a NEW new one that is even more obtuse...

Another issue...I wasn't sent any screws or bolts to screw my intercooler in...I should have a total of 4...
2 for the tab->thing it hangs on
2 for the thing the IC hangs on->body/frame

Also, does anyone know what this set of nuts and bolts is for? I couldn't figure it out...

Here's a good shot of everything connected to the manifold. Well, everything with the exception of the wastegate and dumptube. I should have 4 bolts for the wastegate/dumptube, but all the bolts I got are used in this picture...I guess they just fogot to send them.

I should also mention that while I only loosely put the bolts in by hand, the only bolts that felt like they "wanted" to go into the threads were the ones from the down pipe to the turbine. BTW-should there be a gasket between that connection? The kit didn't come with one, wasn't sure if it needed one or not.

Tell him, he will send them.

Im in the same situation, but that is not a big deal, he even sent me more hoses than what the kit needs

Here's another shot of the newer wastegate dumptube Terry sent out to me...but both holes are threaded, but they're both completely different sizes.

I also noticed that there were some imperfections on the manifold where it meets up to the turbo. Now I know that there is a gasket that goes in between them, but I have a few significant imperfections that I think will impair it from sitting perfectly flat...

No, it's not the end of the world (assuming you mean the bolts), but it's something that would have been a PITA to have to go and get mid-install.

terry seems to be a good man, he'll fix everythiign up.

Terry's a great guy, no doubt. BUT, it does kinda suck that I've had this kit for almost a week, and I'm still finding little things wrong with it. As of right now, afiak, I don't think you can buy a Spool kit and bolt it onto your car the day it comes in...seems like people in general have to go back and forth with Terry a few times before they get everything straight. I mean, it's nice that Terry is a great guy and is willing to run around getting all the parts that you need, and even rush ships them to you if you need it, but it would be much nicer on everyone if that wasn't necessary.

i wish i had the money .............

You and me both, brother!
;)

Oh, also forgot to mention that the air filter (blue cone) that Terry sent me has the same Outer Diameter (OD 3", ID 2.5") as the MAS that it is supposed to go on. :-( Maybe I was sent the wrong one?

those two bolts that you dont know what they are for can be used for the waste gate or whatever youre missing. you screw one side in and the other goes though, and you use the nut to seal it in. dont know if thats what you were asking for but thats what i got from the explanation. i had to get some bolts by myself but i pieced mine together, so i couldnt expect it to go smoothly. the best thing is to just take your time, and make sure everything is gonna go on all at one time. make sure you have everything you need before even trying to install the turbo. if not, youll have to run out to a store while doing the install and itll be a pain. besides that, good luck, and all this "headache" will be worth it in the end, and when youre flying past civics, msp's, youwont even remember a couple missing bolts or dumppipes, trust me!!! hahahaha, laters man

Nope, they're bigger than the holes in the wastegate.

Amen to that. I'm really glad I'm playing around with this stuff ahead of time or else it'd take forever to get installed (with getting replacement parts).

LOL, I hope you're right man.

Damn. I need it this week...I guess I'll email terry and let him know so he can start on it.

While we're on the manifold...I don't feel like taking any more pics right now, whenever I showed it to someone they'd comment on the fact that where the tubes meet the "flat" part of the manifold isn't super smooth internally and should have been "rounded off" better. :(

Nope that mani is just fine
In regards to the imperfections on the flange it will work fine as well. Just make sure you utilize a new gasket on the block and torque it correctly

Now now Kooldino:)
We do not grind or port the manifolds. Justy like an oem application that is casted ect and has burrs If you want that ground down you will have to do it yourself

For the intercooler you use self tapping metal screws from the hardware store

No its the correct one

We are seeming to have an issue with this. We will have to send you another one or like you stated you will get this modded anyways since you are dumping into the downpipe so jest get your guy to cut it and route it to where you need it. However this still needs to be fixed since other people have had issues.

The install manual specifies these are manifold bolts
they are used on the backside and you only need 2 of them
