You will actually gain hp without Cats. But the ecu will not be affected as far as fuel, timing ect

Just to puth things in perspective the MSP utilizes only one cat.

I coulda swore that it retains both cats. All the magazines said it retained the cats too. I haven't got to look at one though.....

Nope...The MSP has only one cat, that it why it is not ULEV car like the regular Protege and Protege 5...Not just LEV like the MP3 was.

To my understanding, NJ's visual inspection is very lax. And there sniffer test is just a probe stuck in the exhaust at idle

True...I live in New Jersey... and they are laxed w/ visual inspections! There is a sniffer test...
