well i also have a 2008 and it is very difficult to get used to at first. So in regards to your new speedometer and gauge this would be ontop of the dash above the air conditioning i presume? so in that case if you get a new speedometer you need to make sure that the new one either covers the old one by being physically in front of it ( which is pretty ugly i know , mighty car mods gramps car and the show car both have a digital speedometer/gauge infront) or you just need to make sure you dont look at the wrong one. The reason i saw this is because you dont want to be confused on which speedo to look at as well as your eyes should be pointed towards the road and not towards your dash even for a second . I know its a bit corny but its safety reasons.
Now if you plan on putting it ontop of your current speedometer on that dash , the dash piece is actually got extreme curvature which im sure you already know so it would be extremly difficult to do that.
Now for gauages that is easy , looks awesome and common . So you can put triple gauges like oil temp, water temp and boost gauges ontop of the center console dash above the hazard warning light button ( gauges facing you of course) no problems.
So all in all i would say your options are:
1) put the new speedo infront of your current one so sitted on the steering wheel column/boss kit. And have your gauges mounted on the center dash piece
2) try and put it on your curved dash piece
3) or like i have seen have the speedo sitting infront of the older one and have the boost gauge on the drivers side interior panel in between your window and your steering wheel.
Those are just some options i have thought of because i was in your position at one point.
Hope that helps
