Speed Bump...CRUNCH!

I've had this odd issue when going over speed bumps in below freezing weather...it seems when its cold outside I go over speed bumps and I hear this CRUNCH noise on the front, it almost sounds like the bumper hit the pavement.

Is this cause for concern? Possibly a strut?

a crunch? did there appear to be any damage in the front? or underneath? i would prolly just say a it was one of the shocks, they tend to let u know they are there on the p5

the mazdaspeeds front sway bar bushings make that creak every time when it's cold - think it might be that?

My P5 in winter makes those sounds whenever doing anything that compresses the suspension, including going over speed bumps. People on here have said that it's normal for cars with struts.

i just got my PR5 in november and it had 13,500 miles on it...i noticed this when going over speed bumps and when i brought it in for the intake manifold recall i told the service guys about the crunching sound. they said it was the sway bar bushings and was covered under warranty. they ordered the parts and replaced it....now i can go over bumps sans crunch!

yeah, it's most likely the front sway bar bushings are not lubed up. so they are grinding against the sway bar when going over bumps. mine sounds like that.

i get it all the time when the car is cold. when i leave the house in the AM and go over the speed bumps accross the street it makes the noise, after work in the PM after a 1/2 hour drive and the car is warm go over the same bumps and not a sound.
