Specs For Rebuilding An Engine

Does anyone have a link to the specs for rebuilding an engine?

We need a more detailed question. There are so many. It will also vary with what meterials you have for the rebuild.

I'll play along.

When rebuilding a stock engine with stock internals, what are the clearance specs for the internal components. So when I put it back together it runs ok. Any more questions. While my english, might not be the best. I think you are going to need the 2 & 2 book. Let me spell it out for you. A. Stock Components. This answers the question above. B. What are stock specs. Oops I forgot the question mark there instead of the period.

Let's now piece the puzzle together. This person is using stock components now and would like to know what the stock specs/tolerances/clearnaces or whatever your favorite choice of english words are for rebuilding it/putting it back together.

Thanks for being a jerk and glad you let me be a jerk too. It's such a nice world out there.

Ok, Here is the problem PG... He wasn't being funny. When I rebuilt my engine myself I learned that there are so many things in there that need to be adjusted to a specific torque. So, when he said can you be more specific, he was trying to tell you that he wanted to help you but he wasn't going to type out all 50 of them if you only need one. OK? STOP BEING A BABY!

Asshole... http://protege5.ugly.net/

Sheesh everyone calm down. He forgot to type one letter, 'I' and you go nuts on him. I can see why people don't like this forum anymore. Instead of helping the guy out cause you obviously knows what he wants, you bash him with some stupid link.

I don't think he was upset with Linux at all, just by Dexters stupid link.

PGFracing, if you don't find what you need a local Mazda dealer should be able to find something for you. Or PM Captain KRM P5 as he can get mazda parts from a dealer, maybe they sell a spec sheet.

Everyone take a step back. I think SilentSno hit it right on the head. We want to help you, but we just didn't know how, so we needed more info from you.

Oh, right, get pissed at me.

This is how this thread started:
PGF: What are specs for engine rebuild?
Linux: Be more specific
PGF: What are stock specs, if i was putting in mods, i would have been more specific.

And im the jerk? Yeah. Of course.

No, we didnt know what he wants. We didnt know if he had aftermarket rods, piston or head studs...linux asked for clarification nicely and the guy was all "I DONT NEED TO BE SPECIFIC BECAUSE IM USING STOCK PARTS". with some attitude like we were supposed to know that he just wanted the stock tolerances. Instead of being clear and concise from the getgo, we have to play "mystery thread". Why is it so hard to just say: "Where can i find the stock tolerance specs for the motor?" then someone would give you a link (like brianmp5t) to the FSM and that would be that.

(ghey)

Maybe you read the thread before he posted this, as you posted 4 mins after this.

There's the specifics before your post.

The torque specs for the internals are not listed in the standard service manual. They are in a supplemental manual just for the motor. I need to confirm that you have a FS-DE 2.0L. That is the most important question that hasn't been asked. I'll try and get everything for you tonight. I will also have a spreadsheet very soon with almost every torque spec listed in the service manual. I'm up to about 175 different specs right now and it should be well over 200 when I'm done. I thought it would be nice to have them all on one page.

Thats awesome! Can't wait to see it.

Do Not Reuse any of the bolts ie, (To Be Specific)

10x Head Bolts
08x Main Bolts (Crank To Be Specific)
08x Rod Bolts (Rod bottoms To Be Specific)
Replace Piston Rings, 3 Each Piston for a total of 12 (Thats 4 Pistons times Three Rings)
Main Bearings
Rod Bearings
Deglaze the cylinder... Dude..

BTW: Your Mazda Dealer has all these numbers. Just give up a Ringle Dingle...

Yes it's a FS DE 2.0L 2003.5 or whatever they so call it. As for the comments, yesterday was just a crappy night. As a single dad with a year and half old who was acting like a terrible two instead of his normal self and working 70hours a week, just a little stressed out right now, so didn't appreciate the link. I realize there is a complicated list and probably long one, although I only need the main bearing clearance, if possible I'm after all of them to rebuild a whole motor from scratch, as I'd just like to do it some time in the future and be prepared when I do. Thanks for the help.

Rob

You can reuse the bolts. They have service limits on how far they can be stretched before needing to be replaced. I've reused 2 sets of headbolts about 8 times. They are still within limits. If it was going to be a turbo motor though I would definitely get all new hardware.

Thanks, however my Mazda, dealer has given me such information as no you can't replace a 2003 motor with a 2001. Also, when called and asked if a motor that came out of an automatic would work in my car they told me no. Then they told me it might work, but you won't be able use your turbo. Then they said the intake system off a 2001 wouldn't work with a 2003, then they told me the throttle body wouldn't work. Then I asked my Mazda dealer to order me in a MazdaSpeed emblem that says Mazda speed. They ordered me in a regular Mazda Emblem. Then they ordered in the wrong suspension pieces and took them a month to call me and tell me that they were in. Then I set up an appointment to have my subwoofer replaced, but they forgot to put the order in so had to reschedule that after I had already taken off time of my only day off. And to top it off my drain plug fell out after my oil change was done at my local Mazda dealership. So this is why I have interest in replacing my main bearings and learning how to rebuild a Mazda motor. So to just give my Mazda dealership a jingle and get some specs may work for you it won't work for me because I have no trust in any information they give me. I'm sure they would pleasantly give them to me and be extremely courtesty. My local dealer is friendly and curteous but could use some improvement on information and reliability, unfortunately to my understanding they are the only approved Speed facility in my area, so I have no other dealership choice.

Then they tried to profit 3,000 dollars on replacing my other motor, nice dealership. You'd think they'd at least offer it at cost plus 10% or something to show some professionalism and that they are a dealership that cares about their current customer and future customer.
