speakers or sub and amp for 2007 mazda 3 hatch?

should i replace my component speakers or put a sub and amp in my 07 mazda 3 hatch lookin for a little extra bump to the bass

It's your money so do what you like. Upgrading the speakers will give you cleaner sound, but unless you add an amp for them they won't sound louder than the stock speakers. Adding a subwoofer and amp will give you more bass. The size and power depends on your budget and how much hatch space you are willing to sacrifice. For a "little extra" as you put it, a single 8" subwoofer and 200-300w amp would be just fine.

I haven't tried one myself but I've heard that the Bazooka boom tubes are pretty decent if space is an issue. Just in case you haven't come across them before they're an amp/sub combo so if you're wanting to stick with the stock deck as well you''ll only need one of the line drivers for extra equipment and then the live, ground and you can actually run an amp memory wire to a fuseable link that would be turned on only when your car is on to save you tearing apart your dash at all.

It's not very hard to do. You can find the steps on youtube and all over the net but if you have never done it before I would have a local shop do it for you the first time and ask questions so you can learn and not have anything go wrong.

You could run a 5 or 6 channel amplifier to power the whole car. Could easily upgrade the front speakers and get a decent sub woofer and run a 4 channel amplifier in 3-channel mode to power the whole system.

you have to look up a wiring diagram of for your car and splice into the 4 speaker wires behind your radio head, and run the wiring back to your amp. pretty easy, im doing it right now.
